I am wondering if anyone has done a upgrade to the worthless OEM parking/head light/dimmer switches on 88-94 trucks? My switches keep cracking from the gauge bezel and keeps oozing this goo out that is extremely annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

You liked this question so much you asked twice.
Installing relays, there are some kits out there from vendors, will remove the load from the switch, which should enable them to last longer

On my 97 the head light switches burn out bad, deal at night when towing.
What burns out is the park light circuit. I cut the wire to the park lights just in front on the firewall and ran it to the trigger terminal on a relay then I hooked all the park lights to the relay's output termainal this takes the load off the switch.

Do you think that converting my cab lights and brake and turn signal lights to led lights would help?

The cab lights are on the park light circuit.
Brake and Turn lights are on different cirrcuit and don't go through the head light switch.

LED's do draw less power on the system. I would do the relay thing on both headlight and parking lights on top of the leds. Then I would install the high beam conversation so all 4 lights on for high beam. That also takes another relay installed

Already did the relay for the 4 headlights. I guess I also have to install 2 more. Has anyone ever changed to a whole new headlight switch altogether?

you really should only have to do the park light relay pretty simple that one. Most your lights and trailer lights run off the park lights

SOunds good bowtie. I should be able to get that in in a few minutes. Thanks everyone. But, if by chance, anyone has changed out the switches altogether to something better, I would still love to know since mine are just barely still able to clip in since all the clips that hold them on the gauge bezel are cracked.

I have thought about going to LEDs, but at +$4.00 per LED. I don't think want to spend that much. I might add them as bulbs burn out.

That's kind of what I have been doing with the interior lights and dash lights. I like having them in the courtesy light because I don't have to worry about them draining the battery if I leave them on. I have left the dome light on in mine, on accident of course, for over 4 days with almost no noticible difference on my batteries. Granted, I have 2 huge batteries, but it still helps.):h
