Hi, name is Ryan, just bought my first Duramax. I chose a 06 LBZ.

My list of to do's
4" downpipe to 5" Exhaust
After Market Hi-Flow Intake
Transgo Tranny Upgrade Kit
Bigger Tranny Cooler
3 A-Pillar Pod (Pyro, EGT, and Boost)
Switch on the Fly Programmer/Chip
Turbo Cool Down Monitor

I am coming from a 7.3 Powerstroke, so a diesel is not new. What brands and other things should I look to do to improve performance, reliability and mileage.

Dont really need a turbo cool down monitor or intake in my oppinion. The LBZ stock intake flows very well and for turbo cool down, I just wait the extra 20 seconds before shutting it off. I suppose if I had an extra couple hundred dollars it might be nice, but these trucks cool down fast enough that its not really an inconvienience.

when you say 3 gauge pillar pod, EGT, pyro, boost...what was the third gauge? Pyro and EGT are the same thing. ;)

As far as a tranny cooler, the stock one does a nice job, but if you want an aftermarket one, get the cooler kit from Mike L, its second to none. He is a vendor on the site.

many different routes you can go as far as tuning...edge and banks are the only switchable on the fly ones that I know of right now...

welcome to the forum, you will be surprised how much easier it is to get additional power out of a dmax than it is a 7.3 ;) :D

and how much Cheaper it is

Im not sure if EFI Live has the program out yet so you can switch on the fly with the LBZs and newer but its a great tuner and its something you can grow into. also PPE is very good. as for intake your stock on will handle over 500hp at the wheels and get you in the 12's. but S&B is very nice.

I am sorry I meant to say tranny temp gauge. :emb:

my 7.3 took forever to cool down. I pick up the truck tomorrow. And the day begins with a stereo swap to DVD and all of the interfaces to make the stock things work.

i know the power is going to be great. I am going to flatbed with tool boxes and a generator. I am pretty sure the set up I am installing weighs in at 2500 lbs.

Picture of my new toy.

That is a nice list you got going there bub! You already have everything to do the DVD install? Not asking for much are you "improve performance, reliability and mileage"

BTW I think you will look good with hips!

driving it today the stock tranny temp gauge will work just fine. I thought it was like the Ford with just a H and C for hot and cold.

Dont miss the Ford at all, the 6 spd tranny is way smooth. Pulling my sisters Calabria to the Lake tomorrow, and then my 8k travel trailer to the Sierras next weekend. main reason I got it, to pull the toys.

Get some stuff paid down, so I can get that 39' 5th wheel toy hauler next spring :D

how's your truck Beege, Lisa said it is pretty nice at dinner. The DVD player is from the Excursion, I already bought a Thunderform with 2-10"s waiting for it to ship. Gonna straight pipe it tomorrow or Monday. Will order the 5" exhaust next week too.

Love it, took off all the badges today. Is the 5" pipe overkill?

it is only $349 for the 5" vs $249 for the 4", for the $100 more I'd rather have the 5"
