I'll save you some time since you live in the same city... if its a GMC go to South Point GMC on the motor mile.. the diesel mechanic is very cool and he knows about the flash and will do it with no trouble. If its a Chevy then the one on 35 by the steak house is good.
If you aren't having any issues then I would'nt worry about it. most go in with the same issues and get the flash done for the problem. Otherwise just do a search for reflash and you will find more than enough info on it.

Greencow00,
It takes a Tech II (GM super scan tool) to confirm the code version, but ......
The 2004.5 (LLY) model year ended production around the end of June, 2004. The LLY reflash came out around Sept. 10, 2004. So, your truck was delivered with the old version of the software. If it has not been in the shop, it does not have the latest and greatest version of the software. As a side note, the first couple of months of production of the 2005 also have an older version of the code.
You will get a mixed report on the software upgrade. There is a poll thread somewhere, and as I recall, most were satisfied. I had mine done and am happy with the results. The truck is quieter, the drivability is somewhat better, and it looks like the milage is slightly improved. Some people have reported a loss of power in towing, but I have not noticed this with my truck.
One of the techs reported that the same upgrade code is being used for both the 2004.5 and 2005 LLY engines. The conclusion is that the upgrade will update your 2004.5 to the 2005 specs of 605 lbs torque.

Agree with lackingslayer above. If she's running good don't let anyone even look under the hood.
