Trippin 03-11-2005, 01:00 AM A stock Allison?
Burner 03-11-2005, 01:04 AM Yep............OEM
Burner 03-11-2005, 01:06 AM Tried everything.......... darn thing just won't die! Even limp mode brake stalling....... and nothing will kill it..... donno why?
PEANUTGRWR 03-11-2005, 01:12 AM Im Thinking 80 Mph And Put The B I T C H In Reverse
Trippin 03-11-2005, 01:20 AM Tried everything.......... darn thing just won't die! Even limp mode brake stalling....... and nothing will kill it..... donno why?
Brake stalling will just kill the converter.
Tow something really heavy and then make the trans upshift and down shift as often as possible with as much load as possible with the cooler bypassed. Maybe add something really abrasive like Bon Ami cleanser to help open up all the clearances.
Duratys 03-11-2005, 02:19 AM :nopics:
Or video would even be cooler:exactly:
Youve gotta share all your 'failed' attempts with the rest of us:ro)
Its the only right thing to do:D :grd:
Mackin 03-11-2005, 06:17 AM Your just not doing it enough!
I've done, from converters no forward motion, too burnt C1's no forward motion and I've seen many things done.
Blown right through shifts like there is only one gear and no converter lock, and it will always get you home.
A Tech II and 4x4 may be needed ,but not a tow truck! :D
I have this stack (on a sabatical)that is so HARD out of the hole that I think can cook it pretty dam good! Has to be drivetrain abusive.Problem is when cruising at a steady speed say 55 or anywhere ,it just goes vaporware on ya
I tried to get someone else to try it,they were scared :p:
GMC-2002-Dmax 03-11-2005, 07:27 AM I know that you can get that same tuner for $699...........for ten tunes instead of standard four................
I wonder if I can get just two of them tunes....................):h ):h ):h
Cougar281 03-11-2005, 08:58 AM Stupid question... Why do you want to destroy your poor Allison?
BIG DIPPER 03-11-2005, 09:36 AM I tried to get someone else to try it,they were scared :p:

and besides.....if I remember correctly...the ghost pedal is aroun 40-45mph.):h
Max Power 03-11-2005, 10:25 AM Stand on the brakes at a stop and stand on the throtlle while in 4x4 and launch it as hard as possible. Keep doing that a few times and you can kiss it goodbye.
04forme 03-11-2005, 10:30 AM Fill It full of Water!! Maybe that might keep the fire out!!):h
Burner 03-11-2005, 10:32 AM So..... Hook'er up to a heavy GN trailer and do about 40 0-60 runs with a mean progammer?
Bronco 03-11-2005, 10:35 AM I would put it behind a 530CI mountain motor that spins 8500 RPM. Curious to see how many 1/4 mile passes it could handle?
BTW I would put a blanket on it first.
Burner 03-11-2005, 10:39 AM Max...... that doesn't work either, just gets hot.....like 300 or so. The fluid...it's black and smells so rancid-:t yet, it keeps going and going and going.
Have you limmped your truck before? Have you just stood on the brakes "while" you were in limp mode? .....Well, he has. :evillol:  :Insane:
I swear this trans just won't die. Every trans has a 100% destruction process...but the Allison.
partsguy662 03-11-2005, 10:39 AM Burner, I know you and I discussed this, but what's the point of this expieriment? Cook it and rebuild with an ATS/DDT/Suncoast kit?
Super Diesel 03-11-2005, 11:10 AM I've killed full built trannys plenty enough (seam like once a month or so). Never wasted to much time trying to kill a plain stocker. If it an't broke, fix it till it is!
Burner 03-11-2005, 11:10 AM .....er, something like that. When a guy has money and just doesn't care, what'cha gonna' do? Hey, he bought it..it's his to do as he pleases. I guess he's wanting to see how much HELL it will take before it gives up the ghost. He will have something to compare to when the new tranny arrives, a baseline of destruction.
If the new tranny won't handle what the old one 'did'...............rut-roew Schaggy. ):h
dmaxalliTech 03-11-2005, 11:25 AM If he has money and dont care, then quit wasting your time anyways... Your likely to break chit that a standard issue upgrade wont include and then your cost goes up.
BMDMAX 03-11-2005, 11:42 AM If you could trash an Allison.....what you do? I mean make that thing just puke-:t . Make it where it wouldn't move an inch...what would you do? ):h

Just let the wife drive it..... ):h  :D
StraitDiesel 03-11-2005, 01:17 PM Burner, if you're serious about this, I think it is a really good idea... What the hell do you have to lose if you are going to be getting a new tranny anyway? People like you (and me) just like to know how much s**t something will take before it says "I quit". I'd probably do it too if I were to have a new built tranny on the way:ro) :grd:

Mike L. 03-11-2005, 02:05 PM Bleach box burnout and stay in the throttle as you hit dry pavement. Four of these will cook the C1s fast. Keep a tow truck near cause you aint driving home.:D
mike
Scott C 03-11-2005, 02:45 PM Just take it to a chevy dealer that does not have a true truck shop. I guarantee that if you take it running great and have them service it, it will be a worthless piece of junk when you come to pick it up!
Stefan K 03-11-2005, 02:49 PM Mike don't give Juice ideas on how to further test his trans. :Insane:
ratlover 03-11-2005, 04:06 PM I vote for see what a truck will run down the 1/4 with a 10k travel trailer behind it. 4x4 with some boost at launch......oh, and try to borrow as big a program as possible.
Or put a sheep head on the hood.
Got Juice? 03-11-2005, 04:13 PM Mike don't give Juice ideas on how to further test his trans. :Insane:I wouldn't do that to my truck!
Now, when the trailer is hooked up to it..... THAT's the REAL TEST!
So a burnout while towing the loaded trailer and keeping your foot to the floor is a bad thing?..... then getting traction in 4th gear at 40 MPH, having the trans dshift to third and then back up to 4th is what?
Next thing you know someone is gonna tell me that little stunt is hard on clutches or something.):h
Burner 03-11-2005, 04:39 PM Roflmao!
Diesel Dragon 03-11-2005, 05:09 PM Install a Hot Juice box on your truck.
Then put a extra set of rear wheels on for better traction, then step on the brake pedal, then the gas pedal, get the 4 rear wheels spinning, hold it in place, let it shift to second gear still standing still, get the rpm's up till you can't see the rear of the truck anymore thru all the smoke, and then let off of the brake and leave a nice 250' hole shot spinning thru third gear.
Stop.
Repeat quickly till the truck dosen't have any more forward gears.:muahaha:
Won't take long, it didn't for me anyway.:exactly:
Good Luck on your quest, and a video of it would be nice.:thankyou2
DD
duramaximizer 03-11-2005, 05:29 PM all of these burn outs waist tires ..... i would like the .25 mile drag with 10k on the back .... invite ALL ALLISON CEO's and go down and back till it takes a ****. do it 500 rwhp engine 4H. so the engineers will have a good baseline real world test. i say it will take a week and 1000 gallion of diesel. running 12 hour days.
oh ya after it goes on limp have a tech II in cab to reset it constantly till the trans won't go even in limp mode.
dpfcummins 03-11-2005, 05:36 PM Lets see some reverse power brakes.;) On all the other power brakes make sure you put it in tow haul first that will help with the clutches. I had mine gone 24hrs after i bought the truck by just using a quad/edge stack with no time for adapt.:duh:

I beg to differ, yes you can ,but it aint for everyone :p:
We drove nearly a hour to get to the interstate (thanks tony) once on the interstate who needs C1? Got stuck in traffic too, wasn't easy. Also good to have a tech with excellant tech II skills on hand thanks Joe (gearhead)! I gotta call him, that reminds me ;)

I had the towing all set. till they found out Princess still had her training wheels on.........
But it says something about the Allison and the Dmax...........all ya need is 5th gear and a TECH II...........and a little extra HP.........she'll move........
But Hey, isn't that what friends are for...........):h ):h ):h

BullydogPowered 03-12-2005, 08:01 PM Dodge only has tranny problems :D
gtmax 03-12-2005, 09:14 PM Don't have anything better to do than just b.s.'ng on KOing an Allison? Try draining a few quarts of trans fluid, then top the fill tube off with water. That should eventually allow the friction material to separate from there steel core and just maybe, if you're lucky destroy your trans--hopefully you'll be on a deserted road and your cell phone will also be broken.
Yes, it also makes me feel like an "alpha hotel" for responding to this post.
Burner 03-13-2005, 12:41 AM Limitations......... what are the limitations. You can read and learn what the limitations are. However, it sure is fun 'trying' to destroy it.... er, well...it is for Him. Personally, I would not do it. I can't stand to intentionally destroy anything.-:t ... I've already told him to just drop a SunCoast (http://www.suncoastconverters.com) in it and be done with it. He won't do it until he finds the OEM limit of the thing. .....Different strokes for different folks I guess?
duramaximizer 03-13-2005, 12:48 AM lol what is the point in not tearing up the old clutch if it is just going to the trash.
it would be like not doing a powerbrake to kill the tires right before you go to get new ones. .... :muahaha:
i love doing that):h ):h ):h ):h ):h ):h ):h ):h ):h ):h ):h

Like Eric said, what about damaging the drums the clutches go in or the fiber and other crap that gets in the oil cooler.
Then doesn't get flushed out on the swap and it goes right into the new tranny.
Burner 03-13-2005, 12:43 PM I'll mwntion that to him, the fibers. But, most people loose their C1's anyway, just before the rebuild..right?

i am not smart enough to think about stuff like that. i assumed like and @ss that they flushed the entire system anyhow. i mean it only makes sence to me but who am i? :( anyway risking the drums the clutches going in is like risking blowing a tire and screwing up the rim IMO. they can do what they want but i saw have a little fun with it till you see porblems then load it on a truck and go have the tranny replaced.
tranytom 03-13-2005, 07:43 PM Hey
Real hard to back flush the coolers.Remember the hard one is in the rad.:badidea:

duramaxdiesel 03-13-2005, 09:50 PM Tom, from the way I see you drive all he'd have to do was let you drive it.:muahaha:  :joke:
Mackin 03-14-2005, 05:38 AM You haven't had to by-pass any rad cool that were blocked???
I always flushed my tranny right after each build, twice! Suncoast's recommendation was after 50 miles with spin on change,no problems! This was when I cooked something.
Good thing the Allison has a spin on to catch debris
I have seen some serious debris lying around in the case too
