Okay all you Duramax people out there. I'm calling for your help. This is my very first post on dieselplace so please be patient with me.

This is the first diesel powered vehicle I have ever owned. I bought this truck about 2 months ago, used obviously, but in fantastic shape. I knew I wanted a diesel and could not pass up the price.

I love the truck and the motor. However, the truck only came with the owners manual. The owners manual states that everything about the Duramax is covered in a 'Supplimental Diesel Manual'. I DON'T HAVE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I do not know anything about the engine...capacities, filters, nothing!!!!

I have checked with the local Chevy garage, and they cannot even order the supplimental manual anymore!

What's in the supplimental manual? What do I need to know about the Duramax? What do I need to know about the extra diesel engine systems?

I'm very ignorant about diesels, so please take it easy on me.

I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP/INPUT/ASSISTANCE/GUIDANCE!!!!!!!!

Thank you all in advance!

BTW....The truck is a 2003 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab Long Box 4x4 with the 6.6 Duramax Turbo with the 5 speed Allison.

Welcome to the Forum! Take the time to fill out your signature, and make the permanent changes so members can see what year Duramax you own. I remember a place where you could get the supplement on-line. Let me do some research and I'll get back to you on this.

I have attached the 2006 Diesel Supplement, as this is the only one I can find.

Oil Capacity - 10 quarts change every 7500 miles
Fuel Filters - Change every 10,000 miles

I attached some things that might help. They are all for 2006 year, but most are compatible. Filters and capacities are mostly the same.

Can't help with finding your supplement but you might try amazon.com
You can however look under the Maintenance and Fluids section and you'll find torque limits, filters, grease fitting locations and just about anything else that is also covered in the diesel supplement.
Also crawl under the truck and take a hard look at your T-case housing for leaking fluid. If you don't know about this you can read up on this just search for 'pump rub'.
If you haven't already....I'd suggest changing all of your fluids to include transmission, T-case and differential.
Hope this helps.
