So, I have some noise I need to figure out.
Seems to be a brake noise, once per revolution of the wheel. Just had new brakes put on. Does that make sense? Can new brakes make noise?
It does not go away when I apply the brakes...if it was pads rubbing on the disk, I would have thought that would cure it.
Is there any chance it is drivetrain noise, like a bad bearing or something?
It is not a tire noise.
Any ideas?

U-joint
Thats my first thought too.

is the final drive 1:1?
Just now I was noticing it was louder with mild torque. could be u joint.
If it is once for every revolution of the wheel I would then pull the wheels and check for rub marks. I think a u joint would make more noise then just once in a revolution. it's a start.

if it's once per wheel revolution, start pulling wheels. I have a feeling you are missing a caliper bolt, and the caliper rubbing the rim a little. I know people are going to say this would make a constant noise, but i have seen where the caliper has just backed off little bit and was just enough to catch a slighty eccentric rim. So, look for rub marks on the back side of rim, the calipers, and inspect the brakes. It is actually happening more than once per wheel revolution, it is most likely a u-joint.

hmm. I'll get the guy who did the brakes to check his work first. thanks for advice.

Warped rotor(s).
Jack each wheel up and spin each one. Listen for the sound.

this morning the noise was occuring on right hand turns, but not on left.
I'm thinking that it is brake related for sure.
Brakes are brand new, I'll have to get the mechanic to check his work.

Check the wheel bearings. I had an issue the same as yours. It took awhile, but I finally figured out what is was when it got bad enough. I pulled the front wheels and checked the bearings when the noise first started, but there was no play in the bearings. I thought they were OK. Wrong. Next time I checked them; lots of slack.

There is a sheet metal shield of sorts that is fastened behind the rotors to the steering knuckle. Sometimes when doing a brake job, the mechanic pries on the calipers to remove them and he bends the shield slightly so it rubs on the rotor, sometimes only on one spot. It will make the kind of noise you are describing. It may even come and go. I'd start by checking these shields or have the guy who did the brakes do it. Especially if you didn't have the noise before the brake job.

My truck just started doing this. Same thing: only does it when I turn right. Pulled the wheels, found no brake issue. I"m going ot wait for it to get worse. I hope it's a rotor, and not a wheel bearing.

When my wheel bearings on my 03 started going out at 60K+ it felt/sounded like aggresive treaded tires. Drove for a couple of thousand miles and it kept getting worse at different speeds. Had both replaced. Don't think that's your noise. I go along with a bent backing plate; also, if rear brakes were done maybe parking brake adjustment needs to be done as it may be dragging.
