Well, it looks like I can now claim membership in the "my injectors **** the bed club."

The dealer replaced my #3 injector without any hassle, and now all my balance rates are back to normal and well within spec. The service manager said if another one started doing the same thing, take it back to them and they'd throw another one in it.

While it doesn't really bother me, and it's not that big of a hassle to get a new one installed on the LLY's, I am concerned about the long run now. After 100,000 is up, this could become very expensive.

P.S. I've had a 2 micron filter on since the truck had about 6,000 miles, and now I'm at 11,700. While I certainly like the extra filtration, I don't think this is a cure by any means.

That's interesting. My #2 is bad. Prior to the reflash it would soar up above 10 mm3. Its better now, but still out of spec. The dealer has one on order, but said the last time they ordered one it was a 2 month wait. -:t

Maybe I need to head up to MT.:D

when I went through all my reflash crap, mind you I have no bad injectors, but the guy told me that the injectors are VERY hard to get from GM. they have to go through all kinds of red tape to justify GM sending the dealer the replacements. They won't even let the dealer stock them or something like that. the mechanic did tell me that GM is working on a newer/better injector to stop all the failures.

Yea, the service writer showed me the paperwork. Its about 9 pages long with the 1st half discussing the parts restriction on injectors. When did the duramax come out? 2002? You would think they would have it figured out by now.

BTW, does the 100,000 mile warranty I've heard about apply to the LLY injectors?

Hi briano and KBK,

Welcome to the Same Crap, different generation Duramax engine.

LB7 owners got the same spiel when our LB7's ate their young.

Maybe with a Gen 3 Duramax, a new spiel will also be sent out to the stealers.

Makes me wonder though, how many times a manufacture gets to try and turn the same pig into a silk purse, before heads start to roll out the door at the Product Development and Spin Doctor departments.

The 6.6 Duramax kind of reminds me of a racehorse my Dad once owned.
It didn't have a name, just went by the initials "S to S,F to F"
Everybody though that the initials meant "Slow to Start, First to Finish"

Dad had to explain that "No", the initial stood for
"Started , Stumbled, Farted & Fell"

and that's exactly what is happening with the development of the
6.6 Duramax, it will just be another sad attempt that GM made to develop "Thee"
perfect V8 automotive Diesel Engine.

I'm willing to bet you that GM will discontinue this engine just as soon as they can get out of their Isuzu commitment.

Don't get me wrong, as a heavy equipment mechanic, I think that the Isuzu portion is one of the best diesel engines ever built.
It's the crap that GM surround this engine with, that is the problem.

Lack of adequate fuel filteration.
Rocket Science HECUI fuel systems
Plastic fuel lines/tanks, no lift pump at the tank
The failure to place a tube of some slippery stuff and a condom in the glove box, so that the owner has some protection, every time a dealer has anal sex with the vehicle owner when the truck is brought in with problems.

My dealer had a few LLY injectors in stock, so I was in and out in less than a full day... it looks like I got really lucky with the whole deal.

Turbo 6600,

I really like the Predator. I wish the shifting in tow/haul was better, but the Alli probably has more learning to do. The code reading and real-time data functions are very useful to me. Thanks!
