Just picked up an 05 2500 Duramax 4x4. It only has 33,000 miles on it and it's in perfect shape.

I traded my 08 2500 4x4 with the 6.0 in for it. The 08 was a great truck but it was lacking in power plus the mileage took a dump whenever I put a trailer behind it. It did not matter if it was my empty 6x10 flat bed utility trailer or my 7,500, the MPG's went down to a high of 8-9.

I am new to owning a Diesel Pickup. Now, I have plenty of experience working on Diesels, just not on these small engines. I am used to working on engines that are the size of trains or bigger. So, any and all adice will be greatly appreciated.

I have the same truck, for a year now and love it, the more I do to it the better it gets. I wish I would have read more here before I started buying stuff so read all the stuff here that you can, there are a bunch of guys here that know what they are doing. The best things that I have done so far is EGR block, finger stick, big exhaust and by all means take the cat off. I have a Edge but wish I had gone with EFI live, will change next spring. I chopped up my air box but have heard the TX CAI is good.

ditto same truck for me, but 75k miles on it. i have towed a 27ft tt that's about 6k and i get 10-11mpg. hopefully you didn't buy it just for the mileage!;)

seriously, other folks with this truck seem to get better mileage than me towing, some get the same. hopefully you got one of the "good ones".....

I have a 34' 5er at around 11k and get around 12mpg, when I first got the truck was lucky to get 10mpg when pulling. Mine is getting better with the mods. Empty around town get around 15 to 16, Highway around 19 to 20, cruise set at 65. EFI live guys get way much better.
