Anyone have any suggestions on easing the removal of my exhaust crossover? Suckers won't budge. Censored TIA

WD40 and let soak in. Then use an impact driver to remove. When they break and one always does. -:t Drill and re-tap. Make sure you have a professional drill. Not a box store drill as the bolts are harden. Mine where 10 mm and 1.5 pitch I think. Don't waste your time on an easy out. When I installed my new pipe I also replaced the bolts as they were eaten away some. The bolts have a glue on them to add to the fun.;)

Ya I soaked with wd-40 and borrowed my buddies worthless 100psi compressor and impact wrench to no avail. I'm not entirely sure its even worth messing with. I got the Xover with the downpipe, how much does the Xover even help?

One other thing you can try, if you can let your truck set for a few days, is soak the bolts in diesel fuel.

It worked great on old 87 when i was working on the rusty old steering and leaf spring components. Let them soak over night, then next day they finally budged.

Not sure about trying it on the exhaust that close to the motor though. Too combustible?

The way that I do it is to heat the manifold cherry red and then some with a big torch. They will back right out if you get them before the glow goes out. Be safe, and have a hose and fire extinguisher handy as grease on the insulation poses serious fire risk.

If you horse tham you will twist them off...

Thanks guys, I'll see if I can find some fire. ;)

The torch bit is easier when the truck is on a lift. :D If the impact driver doesn't work then breaker bar. Or just leave it until you have no choice but to replace.

John Kennedy,
Got the shocks now I'm just waiting for a break in the cold.

I personally don't see big power gains from changing it. I doubt anyone has dyno sheets for just changing the crossover, but if you're reading this, and you've gottem, please share;) .

If you spray penetrating oil from above it has a chance to soak the threads. I have yet to have a problem with one beyond a little oil but I use a 6 pt 15mm socket on 18" extension with an impact wrench.
