I tell ya what, I live in the northeast and there arent many dealers that have the 2500HD with the Duramax/Ally they must be in very high demand, the dealers that do aren't budging on the price, I'm pickin mine up tomorow, it took a while to find,

Are you wanting to build an ambulance? That is what the dual alternators are for. With the lack of longevity that a GM alternator has, you will have to replace two.

I ordered my 2004.5 with dual Alternators, the purchase order excpeted it, BUT the factory told me I can not get them unless I have a special option package like the Snow Plow Package. Its the only option I did not get on my truck.....

Ally is short for Allison. Not to be confused with the LLY engine code.

Dual ALts are very popular with people that run Snow Plows, Campers, PTO's (Power Take Off) or a lot of electronics inside that draw power. (Large Subwoofers, etc) I think it is a wonderful option to have. I have that option from the factory.

My '05 showed up on the lot today with dual alts. I don't really have a use for them, but since I ordered every other option, why the heck not?

i thought you ordered every option?????? i see no roof marker lamps, xm sat. radio ???????Oops, I meant ALMOST every option. I didn't get the roof markers (looks cleaner/sleeker without them IMO), XM (my dad's '05 has it and I think it's worthless. I would never subscribe to that crap), or DVD system (no kids, and I don't like my passengers that much) :D .

I didn't get any of the dealer installed junk either. I have a buddy that owns a truck accessories store, so I get my stuff from him deeply discounted.

It is not limited to 2005 only.

I ordered mine without snowplow option. I think they may be giving you a runaround. It is its own option code, 8X5 Invoice ($192.64)
MSRP ($224.00)

Jeff@SGLC

I didn't even see the option code when I was looking for my truck.

I got the RPO (8X5) on my 2004.5, and on my 2005 dually. All you have to do is specify the RPO at the time of order.. Actually the snowplow prep deletes the 8X5 dual alt option.

the05hd: The Banks exhaust I had on my d-max sounded great outside the truck and quality was good also. I did have a muffler weld crack and banks replaced it w/o any issues. With no cat it is a bit droney in the cab. Exhaust gasses never got above 1250 with LB7 and 6 Gun towing 10,000 lb load. Keeping 6 gun to under 70hp gain.

also can anyone tell me a little about thehi idle on the lly engine ??? , like how it works, how you activate it ????? jusyt wondering im new to the duramax world... thanx the05hdThought I would answer with the little info that I know. Hi Idle is set by the DIC as an ON/OFF feature. It will only come on if the outside temperature is at like freezing level or something like that....

I don't know a ton but I have read a few threads about it. Search for Hi Idle in the search feature and you will see what I mean.

Also, on topic of this post - we have an 04.5 with ALL available options (except roof lights) at the time - DUAL alternators did hold up our build time. We ordered them to help with charging of the dual batts and due to the RV purchase that may be pending in the future. Unlike WASTED INCOME we did buy the XM and DVD, etc. Now I just need to find an adapter that allows me to use my XM antanae for Sirius so I can scrap the XM.. We love our Sirius in our other vehicles... XM is a bit Censored IMO.

I can save you some $$ on a couple Fosgate amps, an electronic crossover, and three 8" Fosgate comp woofers....

Had them in my Ford, and I really don't do the loud music any more.
