I just saw in the newest Diesel Power magazine there is a long bed mega cab cummins that has the oe plastic chrome grill made to look like brushed aluminum. The article says they just buffed the chrome out with a scotchbrite pad and then cleared. Just wondered if anyone had tried this on one of our trucks. It looks really good and would be nice to get rid of the massive amount of chrome on the front of these. Thanks
Dan

I would like to see it too, but not bad enough to be the one to do it.

Thanks for posting that pic. I'm curious if he just used standard green 3m scotchbrite pads and brushed it by hand or used an air tool. Also it says it was cleared, I imagine you would want to use a matte clear?

wouldnt have been a airtool... or deff not a circular air tool. you would see swirls if it was... they took a scotchbrite and worked it all in ONE direction keeping the pattern uniform. all i have to say is clean it well before you clear it!!!!

It works, that's what my grill looked like before I painted it. I used a red Scotchbrite pad and worked all the lines in the same direction, no rubbing.

whats the texture on the red ones? I've only used the standard green and the rougher gray pads. Thanks
