Call me crazy for racing my standard trans equipped truck but I think its quite a challange. Last trip to the track I ran 7 or 8 times and got a best of 14.3 at 99mph. I know I could have gotten better times if I could have gotten traction. I started in 4 hi 3rd gear and tried to keep traction with the clutch instead of the gas. Next time I want to try some slicks on the back instead of using 4 wheel drive. Even with all the steering braces installed I still feel like Im going to end up in the wall. I've seen the guy on youtube run in the low 13's or something but I was just curious what other ZF trucks on here have ran. Thanks

THere are a few guys here running their zf trucks pretty quick, i see in your avatar your front end is up pretty high in the airm Do you drop it down, what front end mods do you run? Mine always jumped around on the launch untill i put the centerlink in. even with braces and sleeves it would still jump around. I dont know if the slicks will work well in 2x4 or not on these trucks?
Good luck

I have PPE tie rod sleeves and pitman/idler arm braces. You think the center link is what I need? 4x4 on pavement or dirt is pretty scary in my truck.

I've timed my truck at a "secret testing location" ha ha, and had a good launch and ran a very low 13 but at the track if im not carefull i can light up all 4 tires. I know my truck has what it takes to do low 13's I just wont be satisfied till i see it on a time slip. Give me your secrets:)

Droping the front end down so the tie rods sit level with the ground will greatly help the "out of control" launches, but like i said trhe centerlink made a huge difference, it launches straight as an arrow everytime! Clamping the rear springs will help also! Tire psi as well, depending on size of the tire but i always try maybe 35 psi in the front and let out of the rears till the "EGG" is the same as on the front tire!!

Low-mid 13s isn’t too hard with a ZF truck, you need a clutch, power, and traction. I would stick with the 4wd launch. Slicks work well with my 2wd but your added weight up front won’t allow it to transfer like a 2wd truck. Guys are pulling 1.8-1.7 with 4wd launching. What year is your truck and what programmer are you running?

Check out my garage, all my upgrades are there. I'm going to get my traction bars done before I go to the track again and I will try and scrape up some cash for the center link. On one run I got the rear end hopping so bad my hand knocked the shifter out of gear. I felt stupid but oh well. Thanks for all the help guys.

I have found that weight is a killer with the ZF, especially rolling weight.
With each shift you will loose boost and momentun so the lmore rolling resistance, the slower the ET. I used to run 20" wheels w/ 285/50/20 Toyos and it added .2 to my ET and shaved 1-2mph thru the lights. If you have your stockers, run those at the track!
Some people have luck launching in 3rd but 2nd works for me! 4wd, bars down seems to get it out of the hole really well.
I was running 13.5-13.3 even with heavy wheels/tires with bolt ons, a clutch, and a PPE programmer. You should have the same results;)

I'm impressed, a couple of 12 second handshakers! I'm hoping that my rig will grow up one day, I guess I'm going to have to start feeding her steriods! :D
