Fractured main caps, tons of pictures. One thing that i don't like is it looks like 4 head bolts per cyl. Very cool looking engine.

I noticed the exact same thing. :(

It does run a lower compression ratio from the factory (16:1) so maybe they can get away with it. The main caps look a little wimpy IMO too, but it least it has a girdle/bedplate thing integrated into the upper oil pan, I thought that was a cool idea.

I wonder what the pistons and rods look like.

One of their few good articles. Their articles are usually rubbish - for example - their fuel economy articles...

Does anyone know where the pistons and rods and all the internals are made in?

think ecm will monitor cylinder pressure, similar to what fingers has come up with, but ecm is programed to adjust fuel/timing/turbo to maintain cylinder pressure.

yep it was a good read, I almost nutted myself when I read the 40 to 70% increase in fuel economy when towing. That means my 9 mpg when towing would jump to say 13 to 14? I'd love to have that.

Upstate New York, although who knows where the actual interals will be cast at.

As part of the announcement GM also revealed that they will invest $100 million in their Tonawanda engine plant near Niagara Falls to build the new diesel. This is the second big investment this year for the Tonawanda plant after the earlier announcement that they will build a new twin cam V-8 to replace the current NorthStar used in various GM luxury vehicles
