Okay, I've been all over this crappy little freaking town and no one seems to know what to think about the front of my truck. I apparently sheared off the rear Camber cam guide pin on my right upper control arm and no one in this town has ever seen it before, 2 dealerships and 2 alignment shops(Dont think there are any more experienced shops) just scratch their heads and then say they've never seen it before...

The most experienced alignment shop in town, been there since the 40's, says that those guide pins are integral to the suspension staying put, but apparently they are, because that position on the frame is the only one broke and just so happens to be the only damn one that is moving too.

Please tell me what to do... Is this something I can do on my own? Pull the upper control arm and drill the piece out and just make a new pin out of some 1/4" or so rod stock? HELP Guys! I'm gonna solid axle my truck, but need the current config to work a bit longer.

Do what you said... drill it out and make your own... to my knowledge the pins are not a replacement item.

TTT, any more opinions on this? The only thing I'm worried about is how to flush mount them with no weld petrusion on the other end, I guess I can push the rod stock in a bit, and plug weld it from the back side then dress the weld so its flat, but the side that has the camber cam, there wont be a weld there and that bothers me.

I have seen it before...Typically on DNR trucks. We get them as close as we can on the alignment rack and then crank the cam bolts as tight as possible without breaking.

I called a friend at the dealer about the pin issue and I will let you know tomorrow what he said, waiting on him to find out from parts.

Sweet action. I appreciate all your help Joey and everyone else. I just think I'm surrounded by idiots.

this happened to me when i broke and replaced my tie rods. I took both UCA bolts out with a floor jack under the bottom to keep everything close. I then drilled it out. I got a bolt about four in. long with threads on the first quarter of it. I cut the bolt head off, welded from the back, ground it smooth, painted it black and dressed the other end and reinstalled everything. problem solved.

Could this issue possibly be why every shop my truck has been to says that they can't align the dang thing within spec?

Yea, it sounds like I'm going to have to just weld a piece of rod stock in there. You didnt do anything to the other side, as in, did you weld both sides or just the one, back in the pocket...

Does anyone think it'd be a bit stronger if I tapped that hold, and ran a bolt in there of the same thread, then welded it too? That way the couple of threads would hold it, then plug weld it in from the rear? Thanks

I was told to do just what your thinking. Weld a bolt in place. The pins just are not easy to get from the general
