Just traded in my F250 for a GMC 2500 and am loving it. The dealer is going to move my 5th wheel hitch over from my F250. He is going to use 4 L shaped brackets that mount to the frame rails that will attach to the bed rails.
My question is, does anybody know were I can get instructions or pictures of how this is suppose to look? This is the first time these guys have installed universal rails on this model truck and I want to make sure that it is done right.
This might help:

Make sure they use new bolts all the way around!

If they have never done it, IMHO I wouldn't let them — it all has to be spaced properly and bolts in the proper place. BTW, the spacing beneath the bed can make it very difficult to set the proper torque (can't get a torque wrench in there. It may be necessary to cut a box/open end wrench and use a piece of pipe on the handle. It is not a technically difficult job, but there are a number of spots where it can be screwed up (especially by the techs they are likely to use on this sort of job). Most areas have a number of hitch installers that do this all the time. As for instructions, check the manufacturer's web site — Reese has the instructions there (I don't know about others). Too, you need a rail kit for your model of truck — there are more than bolts required. Spacers are used to prevent the rail bolts from crunching and collapsing the uneven channels in the bed. The site that RedG referenced is good and will give you a pretty thorough idea of what is involved.

Thanks for all the advice. Got the hitch installed and put an electrical plug in the box. Took my trailer out for a test run today and can't believe how much better it pulls than my 04 F250 PSD. I really like this truck!
