This has been a good truck, but it has left me high and dry of late.
I drive this truck - motor is warm- things are normal. Stop to pick up some parts and then it cranks but will not start.
First time - pumped the primer and it started.
Next time - same deal no start on a hot motor.
At first thought it was bad fuel- changed the fuel filter ( gm part)
Pumped primer , bled it, - still no start.
Disconnected engine harness plugs on top of motor - reconnected- pumped primer- started.
This time- same deal no start hot motor- disconnect/reconnect electric connectors, then pump filter, no start.
Tow truck - truck at gm dealer- it started for them after it was dropped off. They are saying they cannot find anything wrong.
I def need some expert advice

Injectors.
No or hard hot starts are part of the policy.

What year is your truck, and what is the original purchase or in service date? You have 7 years from that date or 200K miles.

How long does it crank when cold before it fires? More than 4 seconds?

Thanks for the reply.......it is a 2002 GMC - 2500 crew, I am second owner. 135,000 km.
Starts fine - before this problem set in.
I will be checking with the dealer on Monday and I will be mentioning the injectors as a possible.

Mine started out just like yours. The first time I had it towed on a very cold night, they said the glow plugs were bad, and a battery was bad.

It gradually got worse and worse on hot starts until it had to be bone cold to start. Changing the fuel filter, oddly enough would make it improve, but even that dropped from 1000 miles to 600 to 300. Cold start crank time should be 3 seconds or less. Mine would take up to 6-7 seconds.

I cut the filter open, took all my records of what happened, when and how and the dealer did not hesitate the second time, ran the tests under the special policy and it failed, so 8 new injectors.

Post where you are and what dealers and other members can chime in on them if they have any experience.

Wish dealerships were aware of GM repair notices somehow. Especially when they claim they cannot find the problem. I mean...they only have GM at their disposal. Wish I did.

If they have it...and they drive it until hot...then it has to produce a no start condition if its doing it for you alot. Eventually. Then there absolutely HAS to be a problem. And they should solve it.
