How can I reset the SES light without a scan tool? Just replaced the NSBU switch and the SES light is still on, also it will only run in third gear.

Thanks already,

Wheatfield.

Are you sure the NSBU was adjusted properly when installed? Maybe the SES is working.
If the problem is gone, the SES should clear itself after a few warmup cycles. If your stuck in third gear, I'd suspect your NSBU needs adjustment.
With the metal index clip on the new NSBU, the tranny must be in neutral.

I'm pretty sure it's installed right, cause the gear indicator is working like it should.

Drove it a couple miles shut it down, and restarted it a couple times, it's all good now. Stupid computers anyways.Censored

Are you sure you didn't limp the tranny cause when I limped mine the light came on and it was stuck in third gear. Just something to keep in mind.

After the NSBU fails and sets a code it will remain until cleared or the specific code has run it's test. Sometimes you will have to drive it like you did to allow that test to run.

Hey,

Does anybody know how to service the SES light. I know this sounds funny but the only code I get from OBD reader is P0650 - SES \MIL malfunction. I have had problems while towing (loss of power) with no SES light. The problem only last 10-15 seconds but thats long enough for the Fords to pass. When the truck was new I could not get it (SES) to turn off. Dealer serviced the truck several times looking for a cure. After 2 dealers and 4 visits problem solved. No light for past 45,000. Today I took it by and asked if someone has pulled a bulb or fuse to get the light to turn off. Dealer states there is no way to do either. They want it in the shop again. I love my truck and hate giving it up to the shop. Any similar problems or ideas? Suggestion welcome..:help2:
