: Non-Soy Biodiesel and lubricity?

There is a pump here that says this;

"The biodiesel we use is made from 100% recycled waste vegetable oil (yellow grease) and tallow (from animal fats)"

Anyone know the lubricity properties of this kind of bio?

There are slight lubricity variations among various fatty acid esters, but for the most part the variation isn't significant. I've read research saying saturated fatty acids (what animal fat is mostly made up of) has slightly higher lubricity, but again it's not what I'd call significant. The composition of the waste oil is anybody's guess, so all bets are off anyway.

The more important thing to keep in mind using that bio is the cloud point is going to be quite a bit higher than soy or canola biodiesel. Assuming it's spec stuff, there's nothing wrong with using it at all, but it's going to gel quicker as the temp drops this fall.
