Well I just took the 2002 2500HD D/A into the shop today for an oil change. Since I was getting so close to the 36,000 warranty end I decided to make up a bogus story about the truck going into limp mode and seeing white smoke. So I just get the call from the stealership, my baby has low fuel pressure... "WHAT?? HOW COULD THIS BE????" There was nothing wrong with her.! I thought that the service guy knew I was Bull$hitting him this morning so this is his way of getting back at me...:( Anyway, he then calls back an hour ago saying that the reason for the low pressure is that I have an INJECTOR leaking fuel into the crank case..... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, IS THIS KARMA!!!! Did I ask for this?? I do everything correctly with my rig. Let her warm up for 5-10min every day. Let her idle for 3-5min before I shut her down.. I am crazy religious about doing this every time. Why havent I noticed this problem??? So now they have to order the parts and I have to wait until Fri to get her back. Now for the real question, I have no idea how long the injector was leaking into the crank. I have no idea on the damage that was done. The service guy who is pretty cool (for a representative of the stealership) told me that "no worries man, the crank is going to be fine". These cranks for the Duramax are "rock solid" they are so hard that they are the color Green (whatever that means). He also told me that the truck will not have any problems with the crank or Allison. IS that true?? Now that I am getting the new injectors, what else should I ask them to check?? Is the service guy full of $hit??? Can any of you share your experiences with me or give me some knowledge on what I should have them check or what problems are caused because of the fuel in the crank case.

Thanks in advance.

Chop.

I was thinking about the same questions....

Good luck on the repair!

Have yet to have a crank/rod failure from fuel in the crank case. I have had some that were so bad, pushed just about all the oil out of the vent.

Does that mean that the service guy was right. The crank case and components are bullet-proof??

Thanks.

pretty much. I am sure that if someone were to drive for a while with nothing but fuel in there, it would have some bad effects, but a leaking injector isnt going to do it.

We might as well hook the fuel pump up to the oil pan. This way you would always have fresh clean oil. ( diesel)

We had no signs of impending injector failure when ours went. Here's the story .

Yeah, I don't get it either. I'm fussy as can be with my LLY, and it's in right now for an injector also. I run secondary filtration, an additive with every tank and what I believe is good fuel.

Bottom line is that this isn't a GM problem for the most part, I think it's a Bosch problem.

The other thing is that a lot of us on here are incredibly anal (like me) and we want everything to be running flawlessly. The only condition I had was that my balance rate was off on one cylinder, so I demanded it be corrected if at all possible. To me, this is only fair when spending this much money on a truck.

The Dodge/Cummins owners are having their fair share of problems with these Bosch injectors as well.

Well, I've always considered Green=$

However, at this juncture I would just take the new injectors and not look back

The bottom end on the engines has to be pretty solid to withstand all of the additional power some people have been throwing at it. The only failures I have heard of may have been caued by hydrolocking, and nothing can withstand that.

The crank, crank case and components aren't bullet-proof......):h ....:secret: They prolly are with stock parts above them......):h

The diesel fuel itself is a lubricant and unless there was no motor oil in the crankcase at all I doubt you did any damage. We should keep a close eye on the oil level as this will indicate any fuel dilution,I have operated marine diesels for 30 years and this type of problem is not unheard of.

Well all the babying and maintaining and fussing over a machine can't remedy a flawed design. Obviously this injector issue is turning into the 6.5 fuel pump issue and not that I ever owned one, but I don't remember every hearing of a cure. GM was happy to extend the warranty to shut everybody up and then just stock pumps on the shelves like he!! wouldn't have it. It seems to me that we are counting on some clever aftermarket type to come up with an injector thats reliable.
