I am planning on purchasing a roll top bed cover.
I would like to hear you impressions on the Retrax
verses the pace-edwards covers.

Maxed,

I had a Pace Edwards on my 98 K3500 Dually and was happy with it. The only problem was that when it was partially rolled up (while towing my 5ver) the acrylic cover would rub on the adjacent aluminum surface and produce grey lines on the cover that would appear when it was unrolled.

On my 2003, I went with the RETRAX and it is even better. IMHO, the RETRAX design, which includes roller bearings and the I-Beam reinforced LEXAN cover, is superior to the Pace Edwards. I'm extremely happy with mine http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif (purchased form JK).

Also, note that any of the roll top covers can freeze up in ice and snow.

I have a Retrax and love it. It keeps my tools safe when I am working out of town. Another contractor I ran into had the Pace Edwards kind that had the power retract. Water got into the motor, froze it up and he had a heck of a time getting to his tools till he could get it fixed.
