hi guys just picked up a 08 2500 with duramax and allsion lt1 package. what is the break in period and what are the suggestions for break in?

A lot of guys are replacing the Allison spin-on filter after a couple thousand miles. I did, and the magnet on the filter was loaded with metal shavings. You can do it yourself without lifting the truck, but you'll have to crank pretty hard to get the original filter off; you might need channel-locks or pipe wrench vs. a filter wrench. Measure the amount of trans fluid and put the same amount of fresh back in.

use it for what it was designed for PULLING. (or drive it like you stole it) but Pulling will break it in the quickest IMO. I broke mine in with 2500 on the clock and pulled a 10K trailer from Kansas to Oregon and back and it has really come around after that. MPG's are better and it runs silky smooth.
