I was working on my truck yesterday and it stalled (user error:o:) and i noticed that the DIC will tell you the battery is not getting charged and was wondering this.
If the alternator completely quits giving a charge and your running completely on your batteries, assuming its light outside, you shut off everything you possibly can including the DRL's. How long could you drive the truck before the ECM and the fuel system ate up the batteries? Lets assume stock with no lift pump or any other electronic upgrades that are used to keep the engine running. It seems like the duramax uses a lot of electrical power to control the fuel system.
I can remember on my old gasser S-15 sonoma back in the day, i ran it for over an hour drive before i could get to a place to change the Alternator, and it still started after the repair!
