No resistor, is the lowest setting possible.

It will throw a code or something after a while if i remember right. Takes 50 starts tho. Might not show up for a month.

It will carry you until the ECM needs to read the resistor again. Then it won't start. If you have counted the last time the ECM reads the resistor than you probably can figure out when to put the resistor. Like most of us, we don't do that nor that we have the capability to do it. So we just put it in there.

You could always pull the old one out of the old PMD. Its a PITA but a dental pick can get it out.

I have to PMD's....I use the Heath unit, and have the SSDiesel one as a back-up. The SS one has the #9 in it and my Heath came with #7 (not sure why they didn't use a 9).

Anyways, I tried to remove them, but they seem to be in there pretty tight....didn't want to brake or crack them.

How tuff are these things??

im just going to use the #5 ive got. im not doing any drag racing with this truck so i doubt the difference would make that much of a difference for me

If the PMD is off the IP I would use Snap ring pliers to pull the resistor out. they come out pretty easy that way.

I just relocated my FSD to the bumper. It was on the intake on a heat sink. It did not have a resistor in it, and the truck ran fine, with no codes, since I got it. I had a #5 resister that came with the new PMD, so I put that in while I had it apart.

Note that yours is 94 and the original poster is 97. OBD-I vs OBD-II, I am not sure if that makes a difference.

Yes it does. Then, like you said above, it won't start.

I relocated my PMD under the bumper via an ebay PMD, heat sink and harness purchase (all separate purchases, not a package deal). I did not have the resister at the time of install and have driven the truck for 9 months now as my daily driver and have not had any issues. I recently purchased a resister but have yet to put it in..............
