Bought a set of Rancho RX9000Xs. I put one on the rear (Part # 99274) last night and it looks like there is only 4 1/2" of compression travel left! It appears that the stock shock had alot more spring compression left than the new one. Also, it squeezed (compressed) the rubber boot pretty tight as well. I measured the new shock compared to the old one and the new one is 2" longer. I did notice that there is only about 3 1/2" of spring compression before it hits the bump stop. Has anyone else who has these installed notice this? Maybe I should just bolt 'em up and not worry...

I didn't notice an index right away indicating what the shock setting was (1 - 9). How do I tell what the shock is set on?

Now the stupid question... On the rear shocks the boot goes down, right???

Thanks for the help!

Mark,
I installed some this week, there is a small arrow on the shock body pointing down to the red dial. #1 is for soft ride & #9 is for firm. I don't know about the length issue though.

If you're concerned that you might have gotten the wrong shock it might be a good idea to verify the P/N before you install the rest of them.

Now the stupid question... On the rear shocks the boot goes down, right??? Nope. The 9000's are designed for the boot to go up (and the adjuster to be on the lower portion of the shock).
