Had an '03 one ton cargo with the 6.0 and 3.73, it had the full floating rear axle. I now have an '07 but it didn't receive the full floater. Not any big deal to me, but I wonder why they changed it?

The diesels get it the gas ones don't. I am willing to bet it was a $$$ thing

It probably was a money thing and with a 3.73 it wasn't really needed. The diesel is capable of more GCWR than the gasser by 3,000 lbs with the same rear axle. If a 4.10 is put in the gasser, then the difference is only 1,000 lbs. I imagine the 4.10 would be a full floater. The 8,600 GVWR GM pickups didn't have a full floater with the 3.73 and 6.0.

GCWR diesel 17,000 lbs
6.0 w/3.73 14,000 lbs
6.0 w/4.10 16,000 lbs
