I've been hearing lately a slight chirp when I have the fan on. I don't know if it happens when the A/C is going or not because I haven't had the A/C on. It's just when I have the fan going. Is it the A/C compressor kicking on or is something going out?

Inside the cab? Under the hood? In the bed? In front of the neighbor's house?
WHERE is the chirping sound coming from???

Whoops my bad. It sounds like its coming from the motor or right behind the center of the dash where the A/C controls and radio are. I can hear it inside the cab when I'm driving.

I believe it's you a/c kicking on and off. If your a/c is off you can still here the chirp if you have your controls set on defrost. A lot of guys put on a Gator belt and that seems to solve the problem. I have yet to try it.

I had the same exact problem you did. About every 10-15 seconds when i had my A/C on, and i think my heat too, I would hear a "chirp" from the center of the engine. Go outside and fire up the d-max, turn on the A/C, and pop the hood. Right next to the alternator is the A/C compressor. When that kicks on, a wheel will spin on the compressor, and a short squeek will sound. (atleast it should if your having the same problem i did) the squeek is coming the friction between the belt and your A/C compressor. I supposed you have some squeeks when you shut the engine down also? I went out and bought a goodyear gatorback belt that people were talkign about, and so far, a year later, squeeks are gone.
after some reasearch before i bought the belt, they only sell 105A or 145A. Snowplow preppackage has a 130A alt. If you search only under chevy silverado, it will bring up 4061174 belt for 145A alt. If you search gmc sierra, it will bring up the correct length for a 130A alt.

That sounds like exactly what I have going on. I wonder if some belt dressing would be a temp fix for the chirp?

i sprayed some stuff on the belt..i think wd40...probably not supposed to use that, but it didn't cure it. I just saddled up and orderd the belt from summit racing. I think it was 35 bucks. money well spent to get rid of that horrid squeek
