I have a 96 2500. I have noticed over the last couple of weeks when i first crank it will run bad for a few seconds then runs fine. When I go to pull off no power for just a few seconds:( .

well yesterday I ran it low on fuel. I fueled it up , then about 5 miles up the road i noticed the truck running rough. I then parked it a hour are so, now the truck takes along time to crank then runs really bad. White smoke everwhere! I drove it a mile are so running bad, then no power for a few secounds, then power back buts run bad and white smoke. Is this an injector pump or injector?

How low on fuel were you? I'd try changing the fuel filter first and go from there.

change the fuel filter,Id check lift pump pressures if its starving for fuel, and it also sounds like the timing may have slipped. (96-97s were known for having low torque on the inj pump nut, causing the timing to slip.Get it to a diesel shop where they can check the timing, and id have it bumped to 16.5 degrees either way:grd:
