I didn't see anything about an allison tranny on the Ford website.

I didn't either, I'm not sure why they are so convinced that they have an allison. Unless the blue oval boys are just being sneeky on us, I think it's probably got the torq-shift.

I beleive that the larger trucks i.e. 650's and 750's have 9 different transmission flavors from Allison and 6 different manual tranny's from Eaton. Also they have Powerstroke, Caterpillar, and Cummins engine options. I'm not sure about the 450's and 550's.

450's and 550's get the torqueshift

I havent had to tell my dad I told you so yet, 3500 on his 05 550 with a 6.0 and its still alive and the trans hasnt puked yet. built right before Christmas. His plowing makes me look sane:eek: We will see what happens when he puts some miles on it. We didnt get enough of a snow yet to call it plowing though. These weenie 1-2" storms are pissing me off:mad:

I went out to the Ford site, just to see. Kinda confidence inspiring that they only offer Allison automatic transmissions. Did you notice the PS rated at 230 HP has been discontinued, only lower HP models available.

Thanks for the replys guys, i'll have to relay the info to them later...I kinda feel bad, the only reason they bought an auto was because they thoght it was an allison...I guess the dealer had their way with them):h

I believe the recall for the Torque-shift was only for some of the '04 model year vehicles.

If it is an Allison it will prolly say it on the pan just like the Chevy's with the Duramaxs do, but from what ive heard and seen they are Torqshift trannys.

No, it's on the late '04s and '05s. I have a letter sitting on my desk for our '05. BTW, our '04 which was built 9/03 has had the same problems as the recalled models.

Buckshot is right.
Would they assume the truck was 600 hp and had 1000ft/pounds torque also. I have some land for sale in florida!!

No way! No Allison for Ford. Hmm that reminds me of a Seinfeld episode.

Ford does offer an allison on a 650 or a 750 with any engine combination but I think that it is a Allison 2500. All the 250-550 come with the Torqueshift.:exactly:

b4 i discovered my dmax, i was looking to buy a ford and the sales guy said the PSDs had an Allison. So i kinda questioned it and he acted funny. Later i found out that GM owns Allison, so why would they sell their trannys to any one else when they have a monopoly on the allisons in gm trucks.

All Allison Transmission's belong to GM and not to any other brand, Ford or Dodge. Im assuming the dealer was trying to earn a buck.

As previously stated, Allison transmissions are optional in 650\750's. Not sure which models, but in our 750 we have the MD3060 if I remember right.

It is totally different in these size trucks, you can order different axles, spring ratings, engines and engine HP, transmissions, etc. They are not a one size fits all truck.
