Fram -:t

Delco is okay,

Best Mobil 1 followed by Baldwin, Napa and Delco not necessarily in that order. . I think jbplock did some reseach on oil filters, you might do a search on his postings or oil filter. Check around for truck dealers, you can find Baldwin's there. Check around for a Allision dealer, you can find the transmission spin-on's there at a good price. Check the supporting vendors for filters.

From what I've read the Mobil M1-303 looks to be the best. I use it. Not sure where you are located but here in Southern California they are pretty easy to find. They are around $10 I think. I can't remember if I get them at Kragen or Autozone.

I've heard that the Mobil are supposed to be the best and I think thats mostly in part to the synthetic media that is more consistant.

Yep, Mobil says their filter is totally compatible with dino oils. I also use the M1-303 and have been satisfied so far.

In the past, I've always had good luck with Napa Gold filters in other applications, but I really have no way to back up how well they were actually filtering.

Baldwin and Fleetguard generally have good reps as well.

No experience with Amsoil filters for the D-Max, but I liked the SDF I used on my 6.0 gas.

Running OEM filters I think is best as if there is ever a warranty question when something busts GM is less likely to place blame on use of anyone elses parts and put you thru the mill in getting repairs. For what it's worth.

I seriously doubt that a warranty would or could be voided over an "aftermarket" oil filter!

I understand your reasoning, but I'd use whatever filter you want to.

I have been thinking of doing a filter test for awhile now. I was going to make up a 5 quart system. I have a good oil pump to use for the setup. Was going to use used oil and have enough to run 4 or 5 of the top filters. Would mix all the oil together in the beginning and take a sample and do a particle count. Then run the test with 5 quarts and take another sample for a particle count. Would have to figure out how long to run the test. I think if you ran it 30 minutes to and hour that it would be good. IMHO this would be a very legitimate test. I think run the Mobile, AC, Baldwin, Amsoil and Wix. But with not really having the time plus the cost of all the particle counts I just have not gotten to it.

Just started using K&N HP-3003, they work well in my other cars! And getting them at the same price of an AC Delco doesn't hurt either:)
