My SES light came on about a month ago with a result of dead batteries. Had the batteries replaced was told to give it a while to reset the light, well the light never went off so went to get a free diagnostic check and now I have a glow plug malfunction (dont remember what diagnostic #). It was at Auto Zone and the guy said to check the connections for the glow plugs. Could somebody give me some insite on where these connections are, or is it covered under warranty, truck has 50,000 miles. Don't really want to pay the $100 to get them to check it out.

Thanks
Nate

Same thing on mine at 49,000. It was the glow plug controller and i had to contribute my $100 ($100 deductible under warranty) to get it fixed.

duraspank, your entitled to a refund minus the deductable. Call the 1-800 number in your owners manual. The glow plugs are covered as an emmisions item and under the dmax warranty.

Need to know he codes to be sure what to help you diag nmdawg.

If it's covered under the 100k emission warranty, wouldn't it be fully covered and not subject to the deductable? Or am I reading my warranty manual wrong?

Skoryaro2 --

You're correct. I recently had one of my glowplugs replaced. The dealer charged me the $100 deductable and I didn't know any better....

About 3 weeks later I got a check for $100 in the mail! REFUND!!! :D (On a side note, I thought it was pretty cool the dealer sent it - I would have probably never have known the difference....)

emissions warranty parts are free of a deductable. If you have been charged one, you should ask the dealer for a reimbursement

F.Y.I., My truck is getting 8 injectors installed right now at a 116k. They tried to charge me 100.00, but I called GM assistance and they got the fee waived. 02' lb7 ext. cab 4x4 2500hd

Thanks for the help guys. I thought I would have to pony up the $100. I have been waiting to get this done (mainly no time right now).

My dealership is telling me they have a $90 Diagnostics fee. Whats with that? If it is covered under the emmissions portion of the warranty would I still have to pay? I will be going to get the exact codes tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Guys, with help from a couple guys from here who told me where it was, the controller is very easy to change. disconnect 3 sets of wires, unplug 3 more, and take off 2 mounting bolts. Cost of part-$70 something Time-40 mins. It Is mounted on driver side rear of engine, on top of valve cover. It is approx. a 4"x6" black box. :grd:

Thanks HD90Rider. Where should I go to get this controller? Don't want to go to Chevy here. Maybe GMC. But it will probably cost more there.
