never heard of "galaxy silver" - "silver birch metallic" yes - did you buy it new? i dont think that color is original, could be wrong, been wrong before - maybe specific to your region?

I neve saw that color either. In fact, I wanted a true silver and could not get it so i settled for black.

2003 they made some silver. had to order it from what i hear. the color codes are in the glove box, but they do not show up in the computers or in the paint shops.. i had this listed in the tech forum and we all came up with the same thing .. NOTHING... sucks...

are you trying to match it for painting????? or what
if you want to paint something the same color.take your truck to an auto paint store supplier that supplies paint to body shops, they'll match it via a computer hand held analyzer and it'll match it dead on. if it doesn't quite match, take it back and they can adjust the blend to match.

good luck, Ron :beerchug:

NOTHING... sucks...1. When I was 03 shopping, there were no siver trucks available. Not even by order. Silver birch was an 04 color.

2. If you cannot find your truck color, that proves #1

3. Your glovebox code has to specify some type of color. There is a section in all those numbers that is specific to your paint. What does your say?

it is a wa code.. I work in the auto repair industry, i have have friends that are service writers and techs. Even the techs on here could not come up with the code I gave them. The dealer (number of them) told me they custom made them in 03 for people that wanted them. Galaxy silver they said. then they told me the new one was the birch color. Yeah, going to color match bumper skins and door handles ect, but it sucks that a gm product with a gm code does not work. they seem to be leaving me in the cold on this one,,, its bs .. They mase it, they should be able to tell me whats up.

Wasn't there a factory option where if a bunch of dealers wanted a certain paint color that it could be done? But it had to be like a minimum run of 10 vehicles. Any color the dealer wanted as long as they were run together. I know a dealer around here does it from time to time with yellow and a burnt orange color and then they do some decal work to make each one different.

I would look over the vehicle very closely. Look for another color. Like up under the spare tire, under the carpet, door jams, firewall ect, ect. If no other color is spotted, then it probally came from the factory galaxy silver.

I would then find the original dealer and salesman. They should be able to give you something to go on.

I will try to post some pics, can you tell me how to attach photos? I had it up in the air on my lift and it was the same color all under everything, I do beleive it was ordered in a lot, meaning enough people wanted them so they made it for that group or people..

When I ordered my truck I ordered Polo Green. I had some add-ons painted to match the truck; However, the paint code on the glove box says the truck is supposed to be BLUE. One bodyshop wouldn't do the job because he couldn't find the matching color, the other bodyshop i went to gave me a stack of paint chips and told me to pick the color that looked the closest and they would mix the paint themselfs. They have a computer set-up that was talked about earlier and the mixed a very good match to my color and painted the items for FREE :ro) You might want to stop at a quality body repair facility and go through their stack of chips Good Luck

I called PPG and gave them the factory code..RIHT AWAY they told me it was a gm custom color and they gave me 35235 ppg code... its just funny that gm, other body shops and gm headquarters could not tell me anything.. Call a reputable paint mfg and they tell me right away...... imagine that... GM gets a thumbs down for customer service this time..

As I said last week (maybe my computer is typing in invisible ink? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif) that's the mix number for Napa's paint (martin-senour) (same as sherwin-williams)..
Now, let me state this again...There is an alternate for this color! If you can find a paint store with a color chip for this color from PPG (I can't find one in my books at work, and I spent another hour digging for it todayhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif) that would be nice just to hold it up to the truck and verify that it is indeed the color. The ppg code you got cross-references to the martin-senour code, so you should be in good shape there...

That's the difference between the two...If need be, I can give you the mixing toners (colors) that go into each mix....If your body shop guy can get in touch with sikiens tech line, they should be able to cross-reference the mix #'s though...
Let me know if you need more info....
