Hey Guys,

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a new JD tractor and need some advice. I currently have a 2950 and 7210. Both tractors I'm satisfied with. I'm looking at a 6430 or a 5625. Found a pretty good deal on both. My question is will I be satisfied with the torque from the 4 cyl. engine in these tractors. When hooked to a disk for 12 hours a day will they perform? I also have a CaseIH 895, and the little perkins 4 cyl. just doesn't have it when I need it. I will be using the tractor for a two row silage chopper, plowing, disking, hay rolling.

I would go with the 6430 it has few more options to suit your needs and bit more tractor i would say not much diff on hp but just more tractor i think

How big of disc? I know the 6430 is more tractor than our 6410 but ours is underpowered for baling hay in soft ground and once in a while when discing with our old 14'er.

MFWD or 2WD? If 2wd it won't pull a 14'er.

Both tractors are MFWD. Right now the disk I'm using is a 14' Burch. I think the 6430 is 90 PTO HP (maybe 115 engine?) and the 5625 is 99 engine HP according to tractordata.com. Thanks for the input. Right now I'm leaning toward the 6430.

I would also think the 6430 should have more weight options and tire options which will help fit your applications

I liked the 6430.

the 4045 engines hp can be adjusted! this is something you will have to take up with your dealer. i would recommend talking to the dealer and having them talk to deere to see if you can get a different software payload for the ecu before you purchase the machine. the 4045 is used in a broad range of applications ranging in different hp ranges so i know it can be done! getting your dealership to cooperate is a different story!
