I'm thinking about putting a 2003+ front clip on a 2002 Ram 3500 Cummins dually and I'd like to know if anyone has tried this. I'm going to have to replace the front bumper anyway (it has a MEGA heavy duty bumper with massive winch), so I figured I'd check into this "conversion". As far as I can tell, without getting a tape measure, the fenders are the same and it appears the bumper, headlight assemblies, and grill are the difference... maybe the hood.

Thanks.

It's actually the 2003+ front end I'd like. I wouldn't think the "under the hood" mounting would be that different in 1 year. I think a fender and 2 light assemblies should do it.

I would probably have to order that crap from the factory as a junk yard isn't going to sell me just those pieces. He wants to move the whole front clip.

You're talking 3rd gen front clip on a 2nd gen, correct? That's a serious change. Hood, fenders and lights are all different at first glance. I'm guessing the engine bay and all the supports under the hood are diff also. Don't think the body lines from the doors on the 2nd gen would mesh cleanly with the lines of the 3rd gen front fenders.

Some folks have installed the "sport" lights and bumper on their non sport model 2nd gens with minor trimming and wiring changes. That may be a better option for a similar look.

Not saying what you're proposing couldn't be done, but would be intensive.

All you really have are the hood hinge supports and the hood latch. The latch could be tricky. Hood lines meshing with the fenders are actually the biggest concern I have. I need to find a 2003+ hood I can test fit on the 2002. If I had to guess, Dodge wouldn't have changed that much in 1 model year. Changing the hood, grill, bumper, and headlights was a big jump. They might have followed up with more changes in 2004 and up, but I think 2003 is moderate changes.
