: CASE skid
mattydmax 09-06-2008, 10:42 AM Did a small job at the house with a CASE skid steer and I love the joysticks. I have always used the foot pedal version because that is what I was used to, but the sticks rule. Way better control and made me much less tired. Just thought I would share as usually I would never have anything for the tractor section.
beach_33 09-06-2008, 11:11 AM sticks are the way to go for anything foreshore
Dmax Tim 09-06-2008, 02:59 PM I preferred the pedals in my first couple Deere 250s but after dad lost his leg I had to get hand controls so he can run it. That was 5 years ago and I'll still push a pedal once in a while to move the bucket. I still feel I had better fine grade control w/ my feet doing it and my hands moving the machine. but everyone's different. I wish they'd make them switchable maybe some day.
mattydmax 09-06-2008, 03:41 PM I think you can get a Volvo with both. Not 100% sure though. I'm sure that would be good with multiple operators. I did find myself going for the foot controls once in a while but it was I felt much better control with the sticks. I also haven't done enough operating to really be used to one or the other.
mx2702001 09-07-2008, 12:21 PM I always go with hand controls since i know of a person who left mcahine running and steped on pedal getting back in and just about lost his other foot.
thejdman04 09-07-2008, 05:14 PM I prefer hand controls but some people who are used to foot controls love them
emerson 09-07-2008, 07:49 PM Joysticks are easier and more intuitive for new operators. You have to start training newbies on something and skid steers are usually the cheapest and one of the toughest machines on site.

what kind of machine doesn't have safety locks when operator isn't in seat? why was he out of a running machine w/ boom in air?
After seeing what can happen in a couple of seconds why take short cuts w/ your life or limbs.
Deere won't do anything unless I'm in seat, belt on and then release parking brake.
moonlk 09-08-2008, 11:28 AM It must be my lack of hand-foot-eye coordination but I always had troubles operating the Bobcat that we used to have. Bought a Case about 2 years ago with hand controls and I no longer look like an uncoordinated idiot running it.
dls64chev 09-08-2008, 05:52 PM certain bobcat skids come with both controls(just flick a switch)
landscaper 09-09-2008, 01:18 AM MY bobcat s250 Is switchable. Some guys can only do joy sticks. So they leave there. I like running my ft and sticks when augering trenching cultivating or leveling. if im moving dirt material or gravel i use the sticks. Mine also dont move with out in the seat buckled and the front door shut. I like to throw alittle AC on to before i crank up
michaeljp86 09-12-2008, 02:31 AM If you run the loader with a hand control how do you drive the machine? The only one Ive ever run was a bobcat with foot controls.
pofarmboy 09-12-2008, 07:04 AM Never ran one with hand controls, but a guy my kid worked for had 2 Gehl's and they had a joystick in your left hand for forward reverse and right left. The right hand one was like a typical loader joystick, pretty slick set up, been thinking about trying one at the farm.
Dmax Tim 09-12-2008, 08:45 AM my Deere uses both sticks for forward/reverse on each side and the handle tilits side-to-side to give you lift on left stick and bucket on right stick.

That sounds like the way to go.

Absolutely the best setup for performance AND lowering operator fatigue.
DuramaxPrime 10-18-2008, 03:38 PM Absolutely the best setup for performance AND lowering operator fatigue.
Absolutely, this is the only machine I want to own, and its a standard option on all CAT machines, and CASE has Standard sticks, but in the H pattern, although they will do ISO sticks for no charge.
Everyone else there a big $$$$ option.
