I'm really new....ok I don't actually have one YET. I've got a 99' 7.3 but ready to upgrade. (I'll never buy the 6.0) Anyway, reading some of the posts...how hard is it to "limp" the tranny w/ a chip or programmer and how hard of a fix is it? I sounds like it happens once in a while but it's no big deal.

If you are limping your truck it is the trucks way of trying to protect itself. You fix it buy beefing up the trans or turning down the power. You keep limping or zinging your trans and eventually it will start limping at less power
you buying new or what year?

I'll be getting a new one (2005). As far as "fixing" it after "limping" it do you just turn the key off and restart it and it goes away or do you need to clear codes? Obviously the best fix is a beefed up tranny and thats already on the list of mods. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_57.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSzeb008)
I believe if you shut the truck off and let it sit for a minute it should reset itself.
