: Tailgate debadged
Supa Dexta 09-04-2008, 01:55 AM Hey guys, first time poster> I'm currently searching for a truck, this one has caught my attention but I've noticed the tailgate is missing the sierra and GMC logo's... I'm going to question them on it, but does it throw up red flags for anyone? My guess is, it could be de badged, but I was wondering it were rear ended or something at one time, would a replacement tailgate come without anything on it? Seeing as how the truck is stock, makes me wonder why it would be debaged...? Most all other pictures I see have the logos on it.

thanks.
kevinb230 09-04-2008, 03:14 AM Do the doors still have them? What I'm trying to get at is why would someone do just one and not all of them... check carfax
SilverDura 09-04-2008, 10:11 AM It looks like the black trim on top of the tailgate is missing. Seems like it has been replaced but depends on if the emblems on the side are still there.
Supa Dexta 09-04-2008, 10:33 AM Yes I can see the drivers door still has them for sure, passenger side picture is shot from the rear passenger at an angle, and with the glare its hard to say, but it also appears to be there.

The thing with the add is it says "no accidents" and "carfax available" but being a canadian truck carfax has been known to miss some things, and this is a smaller private dealer. I believe carproof is more canadian results, I will be questioning them on it. However this truck is out of province, (1000kms from here, 600mi) so it's not as if I can just run over and inspect it.
kevinb230 09-04-2008, 12:15 PM just remember there are more trucks out there
Supa Dexta 09-04-2008, 01:18 PM Of course there is, but I'm looking for long box 4x4, 4 door, slt..etc. And I'm in a bit of a rush, with a new company starting up as we speak.. Which is why this truck is already 1000kms away from me.
chaddy45123 09-04-2008, 02:54 PM looks to me the ones on the doors are missing to
Muddauber 09-04-2008, 02:59 PM I tookthe tailgate badge off my truck and left the rest on the sides. I don't care for the plastic tailgate badge on the 2007 model. Maybe someone else didn't like it either. Almost forgot, I did take the 4x4 stickers off too!
jljjdye 09-04-2008, 04:06 PM Be sure to ask all about it, Carfax is a good idea aswell. Also look under the truck at the frame and make sure it all looks savy
Supa Dexta 09-04-2008, 07:47 PM So I dealt with them some today. The truck was brought up from cali. Carfax checks out, and they tell me the tail gate was stolen which is why they had to get a new one. And the decals still have to go on it. It's also passed the local inspection it needs to be allowed in canada. The only thing that failed on that was tires, which have been replaced. Pics look good otherwise, truck is clean. I'll see what happens with the bank and go from there.
What sort of hassle would it be to canadian-ize it? Get km/h cluster.. etc? probably won't even worry about that for now though.
MAXMSCL 09-04-2008, 07:52 PM If im not mistaken I believe you can choose english or metric units in the DIC. Then all you would have to do Canadianize it would be to correct the speedo numbers right? :confuzeld
drdave 09-04-2008, 09:25 PM I took my badges off as soon as I got my truck home.
No red flag, I "Just don't need no stinkin badges"
tytan 09-04-2008, 09:37 PM Yes I can see the drivers door still has them for sure, passenger side picture is shot from the rear passenger at an angle, and with the glare its hard to say, but it also appears to be there.

I'm all over the lower mainland in my business, I'm pretty sure this is a local dealer. I could stop by and give you an unbiased opinion if you like. PM me and I'll give you my number.

Supa Dexta 09-04-2008, 10:12 PM Thanks man, apparently there's another guy from up here too looking at it, so until I get some money in order, I won't bother anyone too much about it.
