I was loading my ATV in the truck last week and broke both tailgate straps and creased the tailgate along with bending the mounting hardware. The dealer said there is a recall on the tailgate straps, so GM will take care of it. What other recalls have you guys heard of on the 03 Silverado. Also i am hoping the injectors will get the 200k warranty.

The tailgate cable recall has been out for quite a while, however it was the last few months for the replacements to be available. As for injectors, no official word on extending the warranty on them for 03's but I hope they will since my first set went out at 25k. My number 2 now is up in the 5-6 range at 42k so I may be on my way to a second set.

I'm currently sitting at home with my truck in the shop for a coolant leak. Even though I 'had an appointment' I have to wait and see what they find. Of course it starts once I'm out of my basic warranty, but hopefully whatever the spotting is will be covered under the 5/100. Than again to have to lose my ride for a day, and pay a $100 deductible if it is an extended warranty coverage is still BS on a 27month old vehicle with 42k that listed over $42,000 Censored

Well dealer just called me back and I've got a leaking water pump. Of course the part isn't in stock and they need it for another day. The part is covered, but I do have the $100 deductible. Of course now they're telling me I'll need to pay for a rental since I'm out of my 36,000 mile warranty.

hey Max welcome back from your nuptials. Know the joke about why a bride is smiling while she's walking down the isle?

Anyhow the dealer called back a few minutes later and they're trying to get me a free loaner, but won't make any guarantee's. I'm still a little PO'd but I blame GM more than the local dealer, they seem to be doing what they can to please me. So a thumbs down for GM and they're weak warranties/policies but a thumbs up to Boucher in Waukesha for doing what they can.

Victory Red, I feel your pain, my water pump was replaced at about 11K miles. Make sure they don't forget to plug your block heater back in. Thanks for sending the replacement parts, still haven't had a chance to install them.

victory red, i feel your pain. in '97 i had a brand new crew dually 4X4 (454) loaded, leather all the good stuff. tons of problems from the beginning ( i link this to my "bad luck black" color, never buy another) anyway, i owned this truck 13 months, of which it was in the shop for 2 months:mad: every time i had a problem, they tried to give me a pos cavalier or some other crap-ass small vehicle. then i complained ( well, politely explained that the cavalier might have some trouble carrying 30 bundles of shingles, and plywood)stating they should give me something comparable to my large-ass broken truck, and they at least gave me an s-10 ext cab. try telling them that you will speak negatively about their products/ service to anyone that will listen. they are big on survey's and public relations. you know, all those alleged awards hanging on the walls when you walk in the service area?

well my biggest complaint is that the claim is they removed the defective pump without having a new one in stock disabling my truck.

On top of all that I needed some keys off my ring for work and I was just going to exchange my spare set for my regular set. Ask the wife for my spares(supposed to be in her purse), lo and behold she's misplaced them. So add insult to injury my spare set that I thought was safe and sound is MIA as well. I wasn't in a very good mood when I went to get my keys for work, but the service writer apologized and told me 'he'd make it up to me'. Didn't bother to ask what he meant by that, but I got what I needed and left letting him know my disgust.

IF they want to fix my mood, waive the $100 deductible on my repair. He did offer to get me a good deal on a rental but it's easier to shuffle our vehicles around for a day than to pay $30 to rent a Cav or something of the like.

well my truck is still the shop. They said my pump didn't arrive until after 3pm and it's a 4 hr job to replace. I'd hate to be footing the bill on this at the moment.

On the upside I got a free rental, a brand new Chevy Aveo -:t . Since my one day fix is now going on 3 days I had to get some stuff out of my truck. I saw the mechanic working on it, what I saw and didn't like was he had deflated the front tires to lower the working height. Not sure how much I liked that since with my luck the beads won't reseal properly and I'll have a slow leak.

Also got a quote on new front shocks for my wife's Trailblazer. $520 for the two fronts, no wonder people call them stealers(no offense to our mechanics, i know you don't set the pricing). Looks like it's CarX for me since I don't own a spring compressor.

A lot of guys drop the air pressure. I never really figured it out, can get the truck lower if you take the front wheels off the truck and leave the rear ones on. However, I ended up buying this 12" tall platform from Matco, man that thing rules for working on trucks.
