Just installed my front pipe tonight, thought it would be louder, but never drove it around either, I'll drive her to work tommorrow.
My question is, what does the truck do if you don't install the finger stick? Will I get a check engine light? Does it hurt anything to drive it that way?
I ordered a stick but leave on a 2000 mile trip next week and want to be sure nothing will happen? Any ideas from you pro's that have done this?
I have no way to read the codes?
 Just a note to anyone considering this, once u look into the cat once it's off and see the restriction, picture sh?#ing through a screen, thats how bad this thing restricts!:grd:

no codes will be set if you just change the kitty pipe and leave in your factory exhaust. otherwise, if it sets the codes, i don't think it will hurt anything in the mean time. i would get the egr blocker plate as well. think of that same sh?# coming through your egr valve and back through the intake. probably a good idea to unplug the egr valve, in the morning, to keep it from working as you wait for the stick and plate.

Those cats aren't quite as restrictive as they look. Even though the ceramic honeycomb appears to be, the cat is much larger in diameter, compensating for that. These diesel cats are much shorter than the gasser versions are, also. They restrict far more sound than they do exhaust flow. This has been proven many times over by the muffler shops that can test for a plugged cat. Why do I feel a bashing headed my way.....

I drove it today and after several stops the engine light came on, I assume this will stay on until I get the stick installed, then it will go off, is this correct?
I will say that I noticed a differance in power and lower EGT's.
