I recently spoke with my service manager regarding any potential issues with installing tie rod sleeves. His resonse was that till 36K, only GM parts or there is a risk to the warranty. I was somewhat surprised by his response.

When I purchased the truck, I discussed installing a pre fuel filter, which the service manager OK'd. From my first conversatio I had the sense that this particular service manager was somewhat neutral in regards to minor upgrades.

Has anyone had any issues re: warranty with tie rod sleeves installed? I am a builder and my truck is used to get into job sites, tow, etc. No offroading other than getting into job sites; the occasional hidden ditch or rock was my greatest concern and the tie rod sleeves seemed to be an innocuous yet valuable front end "insurance" upgrade.

Any thoughts or experiences with this issue? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time,

Mark

Considering it does not replace a stock part, does not change suspension geometry, and does not do anything but cure a design deficiency, they can not void the warranty anymore than they could for putting on a camper shell or new bumper.

I would tell him if GM designed it as a HD part for an HD truck you would not have felt the need to reinforce this crappy tie-rods.........

If he is gonna tell you that it is somehow affecting the truck in a negative way he should be sweeping the shop floor instead of advising customers........
