: Juice/Attitude VS. Predator??
Coles_D/A 03-07-2005, 08:36 PM Ok,
I am in the market for a programmer, but I am looking to find out more information before I jump into buying something that isnt what its supposed to be. SO can someone on here please tell me the difference of these two??
I am mostly looking for more power and torque, I won't be really needing to change anything on the fly so thats why I was leaning towards the Pred. But I see that you can only have it on the 85 hp level, whats that compared to the Juice module??
Also if I wanted I could always buy the attitude to see all that fun stuff. Or just buy guages right??
The biggest reason why I am leaning towards the Pred is because I can change tire sizes and gear ratios and still get the power out of it. Unless can Edge do the same thing??
Another big reason is the price!! 809.00 for the Juice/Attitude compared to 389.00 for the Predator.
Give me some opinions on what you think I should do!!!
yamahagrizzly 03-07-2005, 08:54 PM i would get the pred. the only problem with it is it runs hot. meaning wot for long periods of time or allot of short wot runs right after anoughter will not be good. when i did my dyno run i ran all my power levels and ran the 100 hp 4 times before it got to hot to run it any more.
McRat 03-07-2005, 09:26 PM You didn't say whether you have the LLY or LB7, so I'll assume LLY.
Either one would probably suit you, but going by your description, I'd go with the Predator. It will allow you to adjust your speedo, remove the 96mph limiter, read and reset codes, and add performance.
The Predator 100HP tune is really about 120HP, and will beat up on your trans pretty good if you develop a taste for it's acceleration.
The Edge would be safer, as it has temp backdown and also backs off on shifts.
Coles_D/A 03-07-2005, 09:29 PM Ya I forgot to put this in, its for the LB7 motor.
McRat 03-07-2005, 09:46 PM From my reading (not my experience) of LB7 owners who have tried both, they tend to say the Edge is a superior tune.
Coles_D/A 03-07-2005, 10:15 PM Hmmm....anyone else?
BlueDMax 03-07-2005, 10:20 PM If price in not a major consideration go with the Attitude. You might want to lose the OEM muffler at a minimum for what ever you choose.
I run Predator, but I am happy (for now) romping around with only 65 more horse and 125 more ft-lbs. It is really smooth and 'feels' safe.
GatorRam 03-07-2005, 10:25 PM Do 'em BOTH!!!
will w 03-07-2005, 10:27 PM i run the juice attitude combo and it is great. if you go with the juice, i highly recommend the attitude. it lets you fine tune it alot more( low boost fueling, defuel shifts, max egt etc etc). if you shop around i am sure you can beat that price by at least $100. i have no experience with the predator and i am sure it is a nice piece, just wanted to give you an honest opinion on the juice. wil
RedRiceEater 03-07-2005, 10:58 PM The only reason I didn't order the Juice/Attitude combo was the speed limiter. Getting to 96 quick is a must. I just want to go a little faster than that :D
Jeff@SGLC 03-07-2005, 11:02 PM With having my new truck for a bout a week now and feeling the need to mess with stuff.....I'm thinking about either the pred or J/A. I like the fact I can clear codes and such with the pred but like the saftey of the edge. Money does not dictate I get both at this time lol. I'd probably run no more then 65hp on the tune though.
So I'm interested to rear oppinions on the LLY motors and choices.
Coles_D/A 03-08-2005, 11:44 AM Well, I found an Juice unit, he says its been updated to the v4.81, now my question to you is how would I go about getting the Attitude monitor? Just buy one off onn of the vendors, then what??
The current Juice version for the LLY is 1.0, but the Attitude will say 1.5. From previous posts, a new version may be coming out soon.
Just got my Predator as well, REALLY like it, as it pulls alot harder than the Juice.
Stacked, 65 Pred with lvl 1 Juice, I am getting phenomenal mileage, 17-18mpg street so far, as most of my driving since friday has been street. Will keep you guys posted on how the mileage does as I am due out for a 130 mile trip this weekend.
will w 03-08-2005, 05:16 PM my LB7 juice is also 4.81. you could buy a new attitude monitor as you stated, it just plugs in. you will have to drill and tap the exhaust manifold for the egt probe if you want to use the max egt feature. but, this is not nearly as hard as it may seem. follow hoot's method in the do it yourself forum. wil
Coles_D/A 03-08-2005, 08:10 PM I think for now I am going to go with a Predator unit, only because its cheaper, and make up a nice mount for it on the floor, now is it possible to have the Predator on while the truck is running?? So say I pull up to a POS Ford I can switch it to a different level I can??
No, not to my knowledge. It has to to be shut off I believe.
With the Predator you cannot switch levels on the fly. To be safe, the instructions say you need to pull some fuses so onstar and other electrical devices (radio, etc) don't interrupt the download.
McRat 03-08-2005, 10:42 PM You can read/reset codes, look at engine data data while truck is running.
The truck MUST be off to use any uploaders.
Possible exception is the TTS tune, which I think will shift on the fly.
With the Edge and other harness boxes (or pressure devices) you can shift on the fly, which is a great feature if you use it.
But understand that if you change power levels it takes the trans a bit to adjust to the new power. It's pretty hard on the trans to run big HP in short bursts when most of your driving is done at low HP levels.
Coles_D/A 03-08-2005, 11:03 PM Ahh!
Well what level is are you guys running it in?? I would think the 80HP level, right? I would just probably keep it on that unless I have to tow my dads cars around.
I usually run the 65 setting. I am still trying to convince my wife the tranny with 7000 miles on it is shot and needs to be "fixed".:p:
