A friend of mine has an 03 duramax,,,for the last 3 weeks the radio hasn't worked,,,on sunday,,he went to start it,,,it was completly dead,,,nothing,,,,he tried to boost it,,still nothing,,he put a charger on it at low charge,,10 minutes later it fired right up,,,and has fired up fine since!!!!
Now,,,,his radio is for some reason working just fine,,,and the little light for his ABS has come on!!!
Any idea where to start looking for the gremlin that's got a grip on this thing???
We haven't checked for codes yet,,,,plan on hooking up tonight and seeing what codes my superchip programmer will show!!!!

Hey neighbour...I'm no expert, but maybe the batteries on the '03 are on the way out?
My '03 is still on original batteries, no electrical issues..but to be on the safe side I may change them out before winter.

I had the same issue on my 2003. The dealer said there was a campaign open from gm on the system. they put a computer on it and fixed it with software

Last fall I had a service 4 wheel drive light come on. The dealer did a down load at $180! Going home the rear view mirror was real dark. Called and they said it was computer related and to come back in. The next morning it worked. Then the next day ALL of my gauges quit working. Later that day they started working. Next morning truck would not turn over. Got it charge up enough to start and got two new batteries. All my problems then went away. Low voltage on a computer can really screw things up! I wouldn't fool with them if they have much age at all.

I too would double check the batteries under load. The truck pulls a snit pot of power to the manifold grid and glow plugs and that can drag down the voltage enough to release a bag full of gremlins.

K thanks for all the replies guys!!!
I guess the batteries are getting some age on them,,,depending when the truck went into service,,,they could be anywhere from 5 to 6 years old!!!!
