I Have An 06 Lbz That Has Always Smoked Black When I Get On It After Some Sustained Driving. But Now It Will Through Black Smoke Almost Every Time I Get On It, And It Also Seems To Have Some Blue Smoke Occasionally. Any Ideas What Could Be Going On. The Truck Is Bone Stock With 40k On It Thanks For The Help

These trucks have been known to smoke a little white at idle , not sure why your seeing black . Maybe have someone look at your injector balances .

Im sure some other will respond with better answers soon .

Could be blowing some of the soot off of the inside walls of the exhaust piping. If i let mine sit for a couple days, then start it, it will blow black smoke for a few seconds. Also did it when i bolted on a used exhaust system once that say for a few months. Blew soot like crazy for a few seconds, then never did it again. Mine has 73k on it, and the exhaust will occasionally have a very faint blue tint on startup for a couple seconds too. My buddies stroker with a couple bad glow plugs blows blue like crazy on a cold morning startup.

It Used To Just Blow Black Smoke After I Had Been Driving At A Steady Speed On The Highway And Got On It, Now It Will Smoke Every Time I Get On It No Matter How I Have Been Driving. I Am More Concerned With The Blue Smoke. Guess Its Off To The Stealer.good Thing I Waited To Get Efi Live Or A Banks Pda

Where at do you live? if its getting cooler there, thats normal. We had a cold front blow in here on Saturday, and sunday morning was 50 degrees, and when I started my P/U up,it was realy blowing some blue smoke,Blue smoke is unburnt cold diesel...If that makes sence.

thats true 03lb7 dmax that blue smoke is cold unburnt diesel and mine has done blue smoke since it was bought in 2006 on the first startup in the mornings. Now on to the black smoke issue theres alot of things that could be taking effect. If you had a recent update at the dealer they could have installed the updates that gm gives them into your ECM. You could have a bad injector injecting to much fuel lets hope not though. Also how long has it been since you changed your fuel filter?

Mine blows black...pretty heavy for stock I thought.....So I had mine updated, with latest and greatest, and there was no change.I think with the additional 50 hp from 05,your gonna get some smoke.

yea, mine would pump allot of smoke if driven easy for awhile first. just drive it easy for a little, then punch it and lot's of black smoke! that went away with a new cat free exhaust system. left me thinking that the cat ( and factory exh.) must have been trapping a ton of soot particles..... i just get a small puff now with the new exh. system but it is slowly building soot inside [ as visible from the tail-pipe} so i wouldn't be surprised if it started smoking more the more miles i get on my exh..... 55K on the truck and 2.5K on exh sys...

Put On A New Fuel And Air Filter Neither One Was Due To Be Changed Or Very Dirty. It Helped A Little But Still Smokes More Than It Used To. Bought A Banks 6 Gun Pda Hope Everything Works Well. Id Hate To Fight With Stealer After Banks Is Installed
