Ok, so my truck has been acting funny stalling and i replaced the pmd, with a new resistor and it was running good, then I decided to take a look at the fuel filter to see if it was dirty, so i opened the valve on top the unscrewed the black plastic nut and removed the filter, it looked good so i put it back on in the same order and i tried to start it and it is running really badly, it is sputtering all over the place and stalling out I guess there is air in it or something, all i know is it wont run now for very long and it is sputtering like it is not getting fuel, I tried to let it run like that for about 60seconds and it is still sputtering, Please help
thanks

When you put it back together did you bleed the housing of air?
Open the nut on top and start up the Lift Pump... fuel will come out of the top. Close it.
You might also bleed some fuel from the WIF drain (brass T-handle), again using the LP to push fuel through.
Last place to bleed is right before the IP where the fuel line hooks on.
Did you make sure you got the housing back together properly? All sealed? No leaks or slurps?

To put a used filter back is very tricky, you may displace the small rubber gasket. Hence it won't seal correctly at all. Consequently, it is sucking some air.
Try to bleed the air first as Jifaire suggest, and see if there is any leak due to the gasket. This can only be seen when you are running.

I would not reuse a fuel filter. That would be like reusing dirty motor oil. The fuel filters on these trucks aint that expensive. Put a clean new filter in!

Ok guys thanks alot i just went out and bought a new filter, the rubber gasket on the old one was worn out and was leaking air, also probally the major cause to the problem is that i found out that my lift pump was not working, that would explain why it was so hard to blead the air out of the system! well that is another problem, i think it is the ops but I will have to do some investigating.
