Made my first pull last night. Went 305ft. Hanging 600 pounds on the nose, at about 200 ft my front tires started hopping. Does anyone have any advice to keep the front wheels from hopping?

Welcome to the forum. Fill out your sig so we know what you have already and we can go from there.

Hopefully this post will have my sig at the bottom

since your parts are homemade I really can't say other that you may try a centerlink. I personally don't know how the hanging weight effects the braces

What was your tire pressures at? Were your T-bars down all the way?

Tire pressure around 70-80 lbs. I left the torsion bars cranked up because when I hung the weights on the front it leveled out the CV joints. The truck has 160,000 miles on it. Could the torsion bars be weak?

Drop the bars! Lower the tire pressure to about 30-35 in front and 55-50 in rear. That's prolly why you bounced. You WANT to get the cv's straight when pulling, less stress on them.

x2 do everything he just said. your whole setup was completley wrong. bars cranked up is a huge no no:eek:. 70-80 psi in the tires is another huge:eek:.

even though the CV's were level when the weights were hung the sled unloaded that weight and the T-Bars pushed downward on the a-arms again.

Thanks for the help guys. I know you want the CVs straight and the weight straightened them so I left them go. I am gonna be pulling again in a few weeks. This time the right way....t-bars down and lower air pressure. Hopefully that will help me go a bit farther.

exactly what they all said.

I would at a minimum strap the centerlink.

When My truck is set up for pulling the cvs point to the sky. Im sure everybody elses do too. Then once you are going down the track they level out and thus no broken CVs, even one turn in the bars can cause a problem.

A good way to make sure your T-bars are bottomed out is simply to remove the t bar bolts. Nothing bad will happen.

Im also assuming that yours will be hard to turn. While you have them out overload them with antiseize and run them in an out a few times. After that they will spin like butter.

Also, do not use an impact unless you plan on getting new bolts.
