I wouldn't call it a common problem, by any means - but how many of these trucks do you still see on the road, with 171,000 miles (assuming that you're talking about the '94 in your signature).

The crossmember is GM part number 15727334, and the retainers are part number 15592576.

LMC sells the crossmember for $139.95, and the two bolt-on retainers for $7.95 each. Reuse the old hardware, or just buy new while you're at it. GMPartsDirect has them for $150.26/$3.68 each. I would compare the shipping from both places if I were you...

thanks for the quick reply i thought the crossmember would be alot more money but thats not bad at all.yes it is the truck in my sig. but my old 88 2500 gasser is still running around and it had 270,000 when i sold it(original motor) the guy who bought it swapped the motor and tranny cause it was real tired, all those miles were real hard miles towing and plowing, but i try to keep up on my maintenence, and this truck has a good retirement here now it just goes back and forth to home depot and on rare accasion will tow my camper or car trailer to the track
