Ok I love my power slide mirrors that came from factory. Problem is, when I have them extended at night, drivers meeting me can not see them stuck out. A friend of mine and I were wondering if we could purchase a small set of amber led lights in a strip and cut the back of the mirror, and install this led set. Then tap into the park lights to power them through the mirror strand. Do you all think this is feasable. I would hate to trade mirrors for just this reason.:help2:

I am working on this same mod, very easy to pull the shell and drop in some leds, then pull the power out of the door harness and to the parking lights.

When you finish please post some pictures. I am so tired of almost having them removed from my truck.

Hope to have done by next week, this week is the supertank, the passenger power seat and a road trip to the Twin Cities.

I've thought of doing the same thing. I never found any lights that would look stealthy. I didn't want a something that stuck out like a sore thumb. Other then that it is very easy to do. The Mirrors come apart very easy. Very simple to work on.

Hired Gun,

Do you have pics of your truck. My 1500hd was Arrival Blue and I liked it, not a lot of them around but I know t hey got rid of the colour in 05. Wouldn't mind seeing what the truck could of looked like.

I do on my home site. www.kydtr.com I have a photo album there of a few trucks, tractors, and loads I have hauled. I can't figure out how to load a pic here. Sorry.

Well mine is easy to keep clean as well it seems. Of course I spend alot of time with it. I am so looking forward to spring days to give it a thourough cleaning though.

I agree with Max Power, trying to find a light you like and that fits well and isnt as ugly as the OEM mirrors are in the first place is the biggest challange

What about a stick on reflector? Or after market mirrors?

I have the OEM manual telescoping mirrors and haven't had a problem. Been bumped once in a parking lot, by a pedestrian.

Plus .....if the vehicles are that close, will it really matter?

What about some kind of row of like 4 or 5 leds on the bottom or side of the mirror, kinda like the turn signals on the new F-150 mirrors.

How about something like this (http://www.innovativelight.com/products/product_detail.cfm?categoryid=53&productid=50) mounted to the bottom of the mirror?

check out that website those guys make a lot of cool stuff.

That may work fine. As far as the OEM mirrors, I like them better than TTT. I am dissappointed in there not being a blindspot mirror added, but I can live with it, but lighting on them is a must when extended. It will give a warning to passing cars.
