When my exhaust was stock it was nice and quiet. I put on MBRP from down pipe back and had a very loud droan from 1500 to 1800 RPM. I tried weights and angle clamped to pipe with out much improvement. I bought a MBRP resonator and it helped quite a bit-but still annoying. What will help the most? (A) second resonator, (B) A better muffler or (C) put the cat back on? I don't want to hear that noise, especially when I tow for hours. It's actually quiet at 1900 RPM and above-so I am not sure if better muffler would help. I installed the resonator where the weights were shown to help. figuring it had plenty of weigfht in itself. I changed pipes mainly to loose the DPF. I have searched the many threads here, before this post.
Thanks

If you decide to go with a different muffler try a Banks Monster. I can hammer on mine loaded or unloaded (no-cat) at any rpm with no droan. Why is it some guys have the MBRP droan and some do not?

Did yours come with the band clamps, I heard those helped a little, good luck, I installed a magnaflow 4 and I have no drone, but I also installed 3 layers of dynomat extreme everywhere in the truck except the roof, so even if it did drone I might not know, good luck hope you get it sorted the way you want...Josh

Similar situation for me. Towing drone in the 1500-1800rpm zone was unacceptable.

Added angle iron, changed to band clamps, and still hated the drone. I ended up putting the cat back in. Not what I wanted to do, but long trips pulling my trailer were unbearable.

If I get bored over the winter, I may try a Diamond Eye Quiet Tone front pipe and Hushpower muffler.

It came with band clamps for the pipe and muffler and regular muff clamps for the resonator that I added later. It doesnt bother me when I'm on it but just crusing at 1600 is not acceptable.

DanL- is the Banks monster a straight thru muffler? I also wondered if a muffler would stop a droan.

When you went back to a cat-did you have to replace all the rest of the exhaust? How did you adapt to the flange with your 4" pipe?

I originally had a cat back system. It came with a 3" to 4" adapter. I later bought the MBRP front pipe.

Yes, large enough to drop an orange through. It has an enlarged chamber for a few inches at the inlet side which takes care of any droan. I had a hard time believing it would work but I swear by it now. Also quiet at idle but lets you hear the turbo hiss when you get on it.

Put cat back on and welded a flange to my MBRP pipe to adapt it. This toiok care of droan. Gonna run like this for a while. Thanks for all the help. Maybe try a banks in the future.
