Yes, I know almost every question about the preditor has been answered in other threads and I have read most if not all. But usually the answers dance around the direct question or follow another question, etc, and hard answers are not found. My use for a 05 is just general use, a little light towing (12,000 max - sold my heavy trailers). I have 4" exhaust with cat. I seek more power (05 is a dog compared to 02), a little better mileage (at 15,000 miles 05 is 4mpg worse than 02, equipped and weighing the same with same driver), but no reliability problems. I would buy a TTS tow, but will keep this truck only until 7/06 as I buy every two years, and it isn't worth buying the module plus keeping factory module at $1,000. Also understand Steve will have a programmer for LLY soon. So Preditor questions as it is cheap and seems fairly dependable at 40 or 60.
1. Using the Preditor, if, before you return to the dealer for service or warranty, you reload the original factory stock program your vehicle had at the time you installed the preditor, can the dealer see you have had a program on it?
2. Between 65 & 70 mpg, any increase in mpg in 40 or 70 levels if driven reasonably.
3. Do exhaust temps rise using 4" cat back for normal driving at normal speeds.
4. Anybody unhappy with preditor for normal use which is what many of use our vehicle for rather than race trucks, heavy tow rigs, or rice beaters. Do all that - at this point in life I just want it to run well and not have to fart around with it.
By the way, if you do not like our diesel prices, try Dringriga, Belize at $6.75 a gal.

I am happy with the Predator so far. I switch between the 40 and 65 and both work great. The switch takes about a minute.

I have restored the factory settings and then went for a reflash. No mention of anything from dealer.

I have found the MPG to be the same if driven reasonably. Which is hard sometimes. The EGT's at normal driving speed seem to be close to stock numbers.

With the Predator on 65 I see around a 1 MPG increase. This is with quite a few romps - not babying it all the time. It would probably do a little better if I could keep my foot out of it.

I have not had any issues with the dealer after restoring the factory tune. Can they tell? I am not sure. I have seen other threads on the forum that indicate they can. In any case, I don't think it is something that jumps right out at them. If they know where to look and what to look for they may be able to tell. The caveat here is that my dealer sells the Edge chip and Hypertech tuner. So they probably don't get too bent out of shape about it - at least until I complain about transmission problems. ;)

Overall I am happy with the Predator and would purchase it again.

The dealer can tell when the last time codes were reset, and uploading/downloading resets codes IIRC. If they say anything, tell them it was running funny and you went to AutoZone and had them look for codes.

So what about a chip vs. a tuner? Is there any way the dealer can "see" a chip like the Edge?
