A buddy of mine just called me with a problem. He was jump starting something with his truck and somehow fried the TCM. He called the dealership, but they don't have any TCMs in stock, and they don't have any LBZs they can pull a TCM out of.
The question is, will a TCM out of an LMM work in his LBZ? Thanks.

I dont think they changed anything ( program wise) so it should work.

Josh it definetly wont work for many reasons.
LMM allison doesnt have an input speed sensor, and the data comms are different. GMT-800's used class 2/high speed GMLAN, the -900's use low speed GMLAN/high speed GMLAN.

Josh.. thanks for your help on this..Ryan was up a creek without a paddle. Interesting..my 04 has a cover over the TCM and a 07 LBZ doesn't.

They are covering it under warranty, they looked at it and could not see evidence of arcing (he is not sure if he actually touched it or not). The dealer said they have had trouble with guys jump starting trucks and a voltage spike kills the TCM. Ryan should get his truck back tomorrow with a new TCM at no charge.

Its most likely not a problem with guys jump starting the truck, I bet you 99% of the problems are because guys connect the ground clamp to the heatsink on the TCM.

I disagree with you on this one Ben. Jump starting has been a no no since the early '90's in the trans industry because of voltage spikes.
