I thought I would share this with everyone since it's not in any of the service manual safety precautions you should take when working on a vehicle. I found this trophy black widow under my hood after what was left of Hurricane Faye blew thru NC over the last couple days, dumping some massive amounts of rainfall. YIKES!!!

It sure did leave a mark...right after I squashed that big SOB in my driveway :rolleyes:. It'll definately make me think twice about putting my hands in those hard-to-reach tight places where you can't see anything, without looking first, for sure.

That is another reason I always put on those cheap mechanics gloves when I work on my vehicles/trucks!

I'm the opposite and (used to :p:) totally hate wearing gloves. But I believe I'm a gonna start because DAMN! :eek: That was one big spider and it looked a helluva lot bigger than the pic makes it appear LOL !!

Dang... Wouldn't want to grab onto that cable to quick...

ohhhhh how i don't miss being in n.c. was stationed at camp lejeune and spent a lot of time "in the field" at fort bragg. between the black widows and the snakes. always a good time. reminds me of a time i was under a hmmwv replacing a starter. and a dang rattle snake came to visit me under there. you never seen me move so fast! was out from under there like lightning!!! good times although, was some good eating that night!

i was in the engine compartment of my stepdads motorhome replacing the transmission, and i came across a rattlesnake up above the transmission

The thing I hate most about working on cars here in NC is the DANG @@#!!@ Wasps!
they just wait for you to open the hood and get all under the thing, then POW POWPOW 23 or so of em just start swarming around you and stinging you ahhhhhhhhhshfhahhahh2hahh
I've never seen a BW in a car before, plenty under tires sitting around, but none in a car... gonna be MUCH more careful until I forget about it...

Glad I don't have them up here, just bees and other spiders that just itch a little when they bite(for the most part)
